"Hi, baby," Her words slur together, the fault of both beer and her own giggles she's struggling to keep in check. "Miss me?"

The apartment was lit only by the faint lights along the floor and the gentle flicker of the digital picture frames. Music played, that radio station from down in Dogtown, but the volume was turned down low. Background noise to drown out the sounds of the megabuilding that never really slept.

Piper woke with a little jerk, startled from sleep only to relax when she felt Violet's hand slide across the bare skin of her waist to her stomach, the warm kisses that made shivers crawl down her spine.

With a little hum Piper turned to face Violet. Her hand came to rest upon her cheek, thumb stroking the skin there softly. She could smell the hops and wheat on Violet's breath but she wasn't really in the mood to complain.

Not when she could pull Violet closer instead.

Lying felt like a viable option in this present moment, covering for what had been a genuine slip of (figurative) mask. It didn't happen often, fractions of time in which he spends remembering that, unlike the solos and mercs hovering around this city for work, much like flies around a corpse, he can back up any claim made. At least, somewhat, anyway.

It was true that he could bite her, piercing the skin, lace it with venom, but what purpose would it solve? That it's what she gets for annoying him; for asking fundamental questions about his line of work, about the fight for justice he seemed so keen on adhering. No, he's not that kind of monster, not yet, at least.

How long that would last for, though, was anyone's guess.

"Only if you don't take a hint, and shut up running your mouth for a minute." Which in itself seemed to be a tall order, words being her weapons as much as any lump of iron hefted in her unflinching grip. No, this was a collision that had been overdue, that needed to take place, if only so that they could learn from it and grow; as individuals doing what they believe to be best, in a cruel, unforgiving world.

"But, no. I won't." Herein reveals the line he refuses to cross, to cause harm without justifiable cause. Some would say it smacked of a heroic leaning, if not for the fact that the very label itself had seemed to lose all meaning, at least in the wake of the corporate wars of decades ago.

She CAN be super affectionate.. just not always. And she only nags a LITTLE when he really needs to hear it!

And maybe she's a little happy to see him.

Her arms wrap around his neck and thank God for her litheness and his strength as she all but throws herself into him in the process. Messy, lipstick kisses are swiftly pressed to his face and neck, smudging against his skin until he's as pink as she is.

He enjoys this immensely. While he wasn't the designated sober one, it takes a hell of a lot to get him drunk. So by the time she's this wasted he's barely tipsy.

But it had it's upsides, he was able to catch her being this cute. Holding her up, making sure she's comfortable. Accepting every messy kiss with a smile on his face(Not a toothy one, she'd probably get lipstick on his teeth if that was the case.)

Her breath smelled like cherries and amaretto.

Piper had stepped away from the heart of the party, music so loud she could feel it reverberating in the floors, the walls, her very bones. But the room had gotten too hot, too loud, too much. It had threatened to tip her very pleasant high into a less enjoyable trip.

It was difficult to distinguish the difference between the body glitter she had put on for the stage and the gleam of sweat that came from ripping her own heart out for a crowd and the elation that came with it. This was how she was supposed to look. Messy. Uncontrolled. A storm barely contained within human flesh.

And this was how she was supposed to be looking at Violet, with that gleam in her eyes and a grin that was one step away from dangerous.

A fan. Piper couldn't say she knew Violet, not really. Some how that chick always seemed to get into the after parties, and Piper could respect the dedication.

She'd never had anyone be dedicated to her before.

Piper reached out, the tips of her long fingers brushing stray hair from Violet's face.

"Mm, you poor thing." A teasing lilt to that amber smooth voice. "Come a little closer, then. Let me fill your cup."

Before she even realizes it, the whiskey has her crossing the bar, sliding into the seat beside them. She's got that classic drunk girl look in the eyes, like this stranger is made of magic. Maybe they are. The way the lights had hit their skin, something about them... different. Enticing to her natural curiosity.

"You were really good," Violet does a decent job not slurring. She smiles with her teeth, crooked and crowded and lapine as they are. She can't help it and besides, something in her gut says this is the right person to smile around. "Can I buy ya a drink?"

Perhaps, Z had found themself determined to spread the message of soul through song every so often. A devotee of the singers that electrified the dance floor over the years, they took a pleasure of paying homage through their karaoke choices.

Even if they did diverge into other genres depending on where they were. Tonight though, they had been sailing through remind me, with an ease and confidence that had a good amount of other visitors drawn in just because.

Once done with their song, they moved off the stage, giving a small nod to those that they passed by before taking a seat at the bar. It wasn't too long before already, someone was already making a point to speak to them.

At least in this case, she seemed friendly. And they could respect that. Z offered a sly, easy smile in response to her and the curiosity that seems to radiate off of her.

"Thank you thank you. I had a really good time. It was fun doing that after a while. But I am glad you enjoyed it."

The notion of getting a drink made them give a small nod.
