It's just. It's the dismissiveness that pisses me off the most. We can have a debate about the ethics of these industries if you want. But to sarcastically mock the very concept that animals might be treated poorly in a system that literally sells their body parts for profit, to the point where you dismiss the idea out of hand without doing any research at all, is frankly insane.

fuck welfarism. am i really supposed to believe that the same motherfuckers who keep their dogs locked up in cages all day, put fish in literal bowls, and imprison hamsters in shitty plastic hellscapes would care about âlivestockâ?
as long as an animal isnât screaming in agony 24/7 these fuckers assume the animal isnât suffering. and this is just the people who are genuinely oblivious. the people who KNOWINGLY inflict harm on an animal would never face any true sort of condemnation because these welfarists seek only a moral justification for eating animals, not because they actually care about them.
even welfarists will say âitâs a necessary evilâ when it turns out these âethicalâ farms are not really treating animals well. but it is not a ânecessary evilâ it is simply evil.
I find it quite amusing, this idea that veganism is a bourgeois thing. Over the past nine years, I've been subjected to countless moral lectures from Western white people about how classist it is to say it's easy for the vast majority of people and that they're just hiding behind excuses to avoid admitting they don't give a damn. Every time I say I'm North African and live in the Maghreb, where plant-based alternatives (vegan steaks, ice cream, vegan cheeses, sausages, etc.) aren't sold, assuming I have the money to buy them, I'm met with a blissful silence. That's when the true discourse of privilege is on full display.
I'll always find it funny, by the way, that with such a large French-speaking population, the French automatically assume they're talking to other French people. It's like when they politely tell you that because of your speech, Bardella is going to be elected xD
