Is the tumblr ecosystem recovering or have the bots gotten more sophisticated?

Having something of a Twitch Dad moment. In other words: Rant incoming. It’s enough of a struggle for social media algorithms to keep up with the people I follow. That was the whole point of these platforms — to make connections and stay in touch with people. That being said, I got a question fpr @instagram — “What the actual Kentucky Fried F@*k are you doing?!” It’s bad enough I have to get sponsored posts every three to four times, and sure, I understand, you have to pay the bills. NOW I’m getting SUGGESTED accounts to follow?! Like you all are doing such a crash-hot job keeping me in touch with people I am following, right? This “suggested” accounts is ridiculous enough with Reels, but now my feed is now filling up with people and organizations I have ZERO interest in following. BUT YOU’RE DELIVERING THEIR CONTENT TO ME WITHOUT FAIL! I avoid politics on my page these days - it does no good as I largely despise what politicians represent these days and how they are motivated to keep their jobs rather than do the right thing for the voting public - the impeachment situation in America shows that better than most - along with how ugly and divisive politics have made some average voters. I voted to remain back in 2016 and - although that was in the balance for me at one stage owing to the factors I took into account, in the intervening years, I have steered ever more to the remain camp. I’m not posting this to have a debate as to who is ‘right’ or who is ‘wrong’ with their vote or how much better or worse Brexit might be as nobody really knows and that will possibly all come out in the wash over the next few years, so please don’t get into that in the comments below. I am posting it to comment on how sad I am as to just how ugly having any opinion at all has become and how easy it is to voice that ugliness thanks to one of the technological things I actually quite enjoy - social media. ‘Free speech’ is one thing, but what I see so often on social media - largely about differing political beliefs - is near criminal - and that, for me is the irony of a vote that was alleged to bring the United Kingdom firmly together...
