"Nesta needs to be punished for telling the truth," say those who withheld vital information.

"Nesta's a slut," say those who spent their entire twenties sleeping with any female who showed interest, oftentimes in the same room as each other.

"Nesta's an alcoholic," say those who, canonically, drink more than her.

"Nesta needs to apologize to us," say those who never apologize to Nesta.

"Nesta needs to be held accountable," say those who never suffer the consequences of their actions.

"Nesta had no right to give Bryce the Mask," say those who can't wield or control the Mask.

"Nesta will answer to Prythian for what she did," say those who never answered to Prythian for releasing death-gods onto it.

My personal criticism against Feyre is not that she’s a tyrant, but that SJM doesn’t flush out ideas enough for her to become as equally flawed as everyone else. Feyre is annoying, but she should be a little bit annoying. She doesn’t like her sisters. She doesn’t like her family in the beginning of acotar. Her motivations are purely obligation! We are given why she’s doing it and how she feels about it. She goes to the Spring Court with a bad attitude. Lucien jokes about it.

She goes to the Night Court arguably with a bad attitude, she throws a shoe. She’s annoying to Nesta on more than one occasion, poking and prodding and trying to get them to do things that reasonably they should have left them out of. She does make a mess of the Spring Court. She does have fun playing her games. She’s essentially a Jude but less smart. 

She has a control freak tendency. Feyre says herself that she wants to fix Elain’s relationship and she goes out of her way to try and fix Nesta’s happiness though in no tactful way in acofas, which is a reasonable characterization since she’s been taking care of them her whole life, but she’s also the youngest and lacks a lot of patience. It’s Mor who’s like chill dude, stay out of it. She is the one who is a busybody and starts thinking of the situation between Mor and Az and Cassian in acomaf, and Rhys is like hey... please let them fix it themselves. He says that!

My problem with her character is that she’s not made to be more annoying. So in acosf, that intervention should be somewhat about Feyre being a control freak. Arguably, it should also be about Rhys being a control freak, because he’s also one, which is perhaps why it’s not so compassionate. It’s a totally like Feyre thing to do, think of acowar and how she handles Nesta and Elain turning fae. She’s not super compassionate there either. 

So the idea that they are suppose to look “good” is ridiculous! Because you cannot take out their characterization that’s already been established, and say hey because it’s Nesta and she’s difficult, it’s totally Nesta’s fault. No it’s not! Oh Nesta totally needed this, so they did the right thing and should be exalted. No they didn’t! There’s enough evidence to say, she needed something but probably not this. Think of how she handles Nesta in acofas, she invites her to things, instead of just asking how she feels or what she needs!

Meanwhile, Nesta is out here making friends like nobody's business: Gwyn, Emerie, the Valkyries, Clotho (really it feels like Nesta's befriended all the priestesses except Merrill), Bryce, Ember, Randall.

And then, of course, there's Eris, who wants to marry her after only three dances.

The IC didn't want to tell Nesta the truth that she could Make magical weapons because they worried that she would Make something to spite them. They thought that she was plotting against them, that she was a threat to their court. Yet it was Feyre - not Nesta - who plotted against and destroyed an entire court out of spite.

The IC judged Nesta for being prejudiced against the Fae. Yet it was Feyre - not Nesta - who killed an innocent Fae with hate in her heart.

The IC hated Nesta for being cruel. Yet it was Feyre - not Nesta - who caused an innocent guard to be whipped. Feyre didn't check in on him afterward because she cared or because checking on him was the right thing to do. She visited him to make Tamlin look bad. (I don't think Feyre understands that ACOWAR doesn't just make Tamlin look bad. It makes her look bad, too.) It was Feyre - not Nesta - who tortured Ianthe. It was Feyre - not Nesta - who displaced innocents out of their homes because they committed the crime of living in the Spring Court or living in the same apartment complex as Nesta.

The IC wanted to punish or execute Nesta for giving Bryce the Mask because they thought her actions would benefit the enemy and risk Prythian. Yet it was Feyre - not Nesta - who benefitted the enemy by destroying an entire court on the cusp of war. It was Feyre who gave the enemy a stronghold in Prythian. It was Feyre who risked Prythian by releasing a death-god and Fear itself. It was Feyre who lost control of Bryaxis.

If this were epic fantasy instead of romantasy, Emerie, a female who's had her wings clipped would not take too kindly to finding out her High Lady shape-shifts into an Illyrian whenever she wants, including for the sole purpose of having sex. Of course, Feyre never needs to worry about having her wings clipped, though. Could you imagine the conflict these two could unleash?

Emerie is in such a great position to challenge Feyre. Feyre's the first High Lady in 15,000 years. She should be fighting for and representing the women of the Night Court. Instead, Feyre only gives two shits about the 1% of Velaris. She's painting more often than she's serving as High Lady. Whereas Vivienne ruled the Winter Court for 50 years while their High Lord was enslaved UtM, Feyre couldn't rule the Night Court for an hour without Rhys around. While Feyre's buying her fifth mansion, the people in Velaris are struggling after the war, Emerie's people are living in barbaric slave-like conditions, and the people of the CoN are trapped under the mountain. Feyre's in a position to actually help people, yet she chooses not to. She would rather wear skimpy clothes and preen about and act like she's better than everyone else in her court. Feyre may have been abused, but she perpetuates that cycle of abuse for hundreds of innocent women and children in Illyria and the CoN.

Feyre would rather use the patriarchy to oppress women, so give me Emerie raising an army of women to abolish Feyre's patriarchy. Give me Emerie calling Feyre out on her bullshit "High Lady" title. Give me Emerie calling Feyre out for burning the LoA rather than trying to help the woman who's been a victim of abuse for centuries. Give me Emerie threatening to clip Feyre's wings - we know that would make Feyre start to give two shits and make meaningful changes. Give me Emerie raising up and leading the Illyrians in a revolution against Feysand and the IC.

What kind of person drags an animal carcass across the house and dumps it on the kitchen table? I grew up in a huge hunting community, and no hunter would ever dare to do that shit because their wives would fillet them alive. Dead animals are taken elsewhere to be skinned before the wives cook them up.

Antis will also hate Nesta for getting on Feyre for dragging mud through the house, but Nesta is just behaving like every housewife: you do not drag dirt and mud and dead animals through a clean house. Period. That's common sense and human decency, which Feyre has none of. No mother/homemaker allows kids, spouses, or anyone else to come trapezing through the house if they're dirty. The Nesta hate is so ridiculously forced.

This moment does prove, though, that Feyre didn't do the household labor like cleaning because no one who does the work is going to display that level of disrespect. Nesta had probably just finished cleaning when her sister dragged blood and mud all throughout the house. And Feyre said that Nesta made people's lives difficult. Someone needs to hand Feyre a mirror. Thanks to her, Nesta had to cook dinner and re-clean the house before they could eat.
