The Violet/Henry relationship has never made sense to me and every time I rewatch season 5 I'm annoyed that it's there. Like why? It's such a pointless subplot, it annoys me that the writers didn't do something more interesting with Henry's story but they were pretty shit at everything else, so why should I expect them to handle his subplots correctly?
I mean his mother became the dark one, a situation his father had been in at around the same age as Henry, shouldn't we investigate, how his previously healthy relationship with his mother could be damaged because of a curse that has hounded his family for years and torn family members apart (well I guess not because for that storyline to work Neal would have to be alive, man I hate the writers.)
After a certain point it feels like he stops being Henry and starts becoming a completely different, boring character/plot device who gets sidelined and forgotten and the odd occasion the writers actually remember his existence he gets stupid subplots like the romance with violet that's about as interesting as a beige wall.
His arc about destroying magic was interesting, but after about an episode it's resolved and he goes back to being a forgotten character.
It's sad because season one Henry was such an interesting and fun kid, and he could have grown into a compelling main character alongside his mother. However, as soon as Neal dies, that goes out the window, along with Henry's screen time and personality. All so Hook can become the most pointless, irritating character of all time.
I mean Henry had the potential to be one of the most interesting characters on the show, he's the son of Neal and Emma, his grandparents are Rumplestiltskin, Snow and David and his mother is the evil queen, he's the link between everyone and yet he's underutilised.
All he is at the end of the show is a plot device for Regina's story, to prop her up and give her a reason to keep fighting and that's really sad. Every other relationship is forgotten about; also, what a missed opportunity to explore his relationship with Rumple. He's Neal's only son, the boy Rumple spent years searching for, and yet their relationship is non-existent.
i loved rumple as a villain, but I felt his redemption arc was terribly done, and came at the expense of belle’s character. Rumple, Regina, and hook all had poorly written “redemption” arcs, although only Regina and rumple were good villains to begin with, hook was always annoying and he just got moreso as his “romance” with Emma overtook the show and Emma’s character.
LOL, love the Hook shade!
the car running hook over was me.

who is worse, spike or hook?
I personally dislike Spike more and find his actions worse. Hook's more just a creeper with bad character development.
“ah, fuckin’ hook.” sibling has sensed my mood.
if you could change 5 things about ouat what would they be?
Neal lives
Hook stays a villain/minor character
Related to above, no Captain Swan
Regina isn't redeemed and stays the main villain
