maybe i'm a pussy but helbabs sometimes piss me off when babs is unfairly worse to helena while helena literally did nothing wrong to babs to warrant all the shit from babs. worse yet, babs is treated as "Good" and helena as "Bad". somehow helena is the one who always has to earn forgiveness, to learn to control her anger, to earn redemption, while babs gets away in a way. very few people actually acknowledge how unfair and disproportionate helena's mistreatment is. the hypocrisy of how bats are put on this pedestal of being perfect good guys, where they can get away with unfairly treating helena and nobody bats an eye because they dgaf about helena to notice or they think helena deserves it. babs gets to be morally grey and good, helena is morale questionable. even though helena as huntress never claims to be a good guy or even a hero. she just does.
i am a fan of babs. i am a fan of helbabs. but when people romanticise these moments and the imbalance between helbabs, i get so fucking unfair because do you care about helena. why don't you get angry at babs and demand her to unlearn and learn and make it up to helena. why are you essentially advocating for helena to be in an abusive toxic relationship where she did nothing wrong to babs specifically.
i am a pussy but i prefer when helbabs are friends, coworkers, and babs treats helena with respect. helbabs prior to this just makes babs look so bad and immature and petty because helena fucking did nothing to warrant all that.
i'm not saying to remove or retcon the messiness or make babs small either.
i'm just asking that we don't romanticise the unfairness against helena or that insinuate that helena deserves to put up with these disrespectful, almost abusive interactions, and that somehow, she's the bitch if she tells babs or whoever to buzz off and holds her ground.
helbabs have to be earned. babs actually has to earn helena's respect and trust. you can't have your cake and eat it too. i don't care for yuri if my girl helena doesn't get net good out of it. the bats can be damned i want helena to be treated well when she's not done anything to warrant and tolerate the batfam's hypocrisy.
