Swipe #NYFW #FashionWeek Casting for my next show, view a previous post.   As previously mentioned, there are stories behind my presentation for New York Fashion Week 2020. While it is enjoyable to watch the models both human and canine strut the catwalk so much is missed in so far as the understanding of what went into creating each garment, never mind what went into the overall production. I won't even get into getting that invitation to present during any Fashion Week or catching the attention of the press. All I will say is that it takes much more than just sewing. I love to study fashions of the past as well as what is current to better comprehend then reinvent my own interpretations. Inspirations to me there are many but to get up close to actual iconic creations from the top of the top designers is what stirs me to create. With that said, the theme for my tenth anniversary was "Sustainability". Funny that the very day between my two shows were the Academy Awards and the main topic of conversation, pertaining to fashion, was sustainability. For those who don't understand, let me simplify what sustainability is. In our society filled with instant gratification and an excess of waste, our environment is suffering. Our world is dying a slow death. The concept of sustainability  is about reusing, recycling and avoiding waste.  I dug up remnants and leftovers from past shows to create my newest collection and in my second show I reintroduced some past designs as an homage to 10 seasons I have had the privilege to show in the past. Here is a women's couture creation I designed made of pieces I salvaged from a past season. This masterpiece took me two weeks to complete. I had to play with the pieces of fabric to create, almost as if it was a puzzle, a symmetrical garment that showed off every lovely and sultry nuance of this fabulous finished garment.
