NONNIE YOU DON'T KNOW HOW EXCITED THIS MAKES ME!!!!!
Like okay just, they parallel each other so well!!!! Both wanted to exemplify the truths of their orders, sith and jedi, but they were violently cast aside as pawns (which Maul even says to her! And he's entirely right about it!), both used by Sidious, even! Ahsoka was used as a weapon against Anakin, to further isolate him. Maul was sent to kill Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon, and imagine if he'd found Anakin and taken the kid with him? Sidious would have dropped Maul like a hot potato.
Not only that, but they both have this temper and want to do things their own way, they like to tease and mess with their opponents (we see that with Ahsoka a lot in clone wars especially; her fights with Maul, Ventress, etc.), and they have such amazing fighting skills, but they're more than just their lightsabers. Neither of them are sith or jedi, but something outside of an order of Force welders. Ahsoka and Maul also still try to follow the tenets of their old orders, even though they no longer claim to follow them (she says that she's no jedi, he says that he was once sith).
Like, the two of them would have so many verbal spars and arguments about the Force, about dark and light, both certain that they could bring the other to the light/dark, while meeting somewhere in the middle instead. Ahsoka was so close to taking Maul's offer in season 7 of clone wars, too!!!! He just made the mistake of saying he wanted to kill Anakin, lmao. Like c'mon, man! Bad move. But imagine if she'd taken him up on it, and imagine if they'd worked together—both of them hate the Empire, of course, even if it's for different reasons—and they'd have been an absolute terror of a team up, in a good way. Back and forth tension, the two of them getting all up in each other's faces, fighting back and forth verbally as they're taking out inquisitors? Ah! I love it.
And also there's the fact that he calls her Lady Tano, and is kinda low key obsessed with her? C'mon man (@ Maul) what's that all about??
I have a fic that I'm planning to write about them for febuwhump, nonnie, so I really hope you'll read and enjoy it, because now I'm even more super excited to share it (it's for the "touch aversion" prompt, if that interests you)! I still have my immortal maulsoka duology fic to finish (where they team up after the Siege of Mandalore and neither are able to die because of a connection to the Mortis gods), and a fic where the two of them run crimson dawn together, and I really love that you're hopping on the maulsoka train! It's such a fun ship because of all the ~possibilities
