The jangling of your keys attempted to drown out of the sounds of children’s laughter and voices echoing in your ears from another long, yet fulfilling, day. You pause with your hand on the door knob, instead of the gentle rattle of keys or even the sounds of your exuberant students filling your ears you’re confused to hear a clanking inside.  You were pretty sure no one was supposed to be home until tomorrow maybe late tonight if they pushed it, Sweets had had a special culinary course he’d been excited to go to and Sansy had joined his brother on the 3 day course. Perhaps it was one of your cats! Hopefully Marshall hasn’t gotten into too much trouble, you thought as you pushed the door open.

The wall of heavenly aromas let you know the noises most certainly were not Marshall! “Hello?”

“Welcome home cher.” Sansy’s voice purred as he entered the room to greet you. He leaned in to press a boney kiss to your cheek as he helped you shed your jacket and work stuff.

“You’re home early.” You couldn’t keep the grin off your face as you leaned in to give him a hug once you were free of the cumbersome items, his arms coming to wrap around you warmly in a bear hug.

He hummed in acknowledgment “Sweets asked me to shortcut us home.”

“He did?” You asked in surprise, making him hum again with a smug tone.

Before you knew it a pair of long arms wrapped around the both of you.

“Dearest Anne, You’re Home!” The kind boisterous voice of Sweets filled the room. The tall skeleton nuzzled the top of your head, ever mindful of his braces. “I Am So Excited To See You.”

You giggle as you do your best to wrap your arms around him as well, soaking in the affection radiating from the skeletons you were sandwiched between. “Yup. And I’m surprised to see you two! I didn’t think you’d be home until later tonight at least.”

“I Just Couldn’t Wait To Show You The New Recipes I Learned. Come See!” Sweets said excitedly, dropping his arms to take your hand to pull you towards the kitchen and the amazing smells from within. He had to stoop a little as he crossed the threshold. On the counter there was a wide array of treats: brownies, muffins, all types of cookies, and on the stove were two pots bubbling away filled with simmering gumbo and steaming rice.

You couldn’t help but feel impressed at the quantity but a little confused on the new. You’d made many of these items with your sweet boys in the past. Sweets Nyehed happily at your face.

“They Are Entirely Made Of Magic!” Sweets practically vibrated in excitement “Not Just Magic Enriched That Means No Allergens, No Gluten, and No Sugar!”

Your mouth dropped into a surprised O, before morphing into your own delight at the implications of that not only his customers at the bakery, but for you specially. You eyed your favorite treats with a new eye and appreciation.

“I wouldn’t say no sugar.” Sansy chimed back in with a wink, blowing you a little kiss as he stirred the gumbo.

You giggle at Sweets grumble, taking his hand for a squeeze as you brought a smile back to his face “Well I can’t wait to see if they taste even half as delicious as the smell. I’ll set the table.”
