3 years ago today, Yoasobi’s Idol, aka the most influential anime OP ever, dropped. The fact this was the biggest song on the planet for like 6 months and the number 1 on billboard excluding the US is insane. Plus the OnK manga and anime were still good 💔💔
It has just been announced that Sayuri, the Japanese singer and songwriter, whose songs were used as themes in several anime such as Erased, Scum's Wish, My Hero Academia, and Lycoris Recoil, has passed away at the age of 28, following a battle with a chronic illness.
This is incredibly tragic news, as she was taken too young. May she rest in peace.
To commemorate a part of her life, I want to share the ending theme used to Erased, "Sore wa Chiisa na Hikari no yō na" ("That Was Like a Small Light"), one of my favorite series. It has always been one of my favorite ending themes, for both music and visual tone.
