Rachel/Tobias, cuddling after something stressful
send in a character/pairing and a prompt, and I'll write a three-ish sentence fic!
It's not subtle, not remotely subtle, but--sometimes you need to do things to stay sane more than you need to do things to stay alive, in a war.
That's why they're here, now, exhausted from the fight but too keyed up to really rest. Rachel is pushing the end of her first hour in morph, and she'll need at least thirty minutes to fly home, but--for now, this.
She keeps hearing Tobias scream, as the Dracon beam burned into his wing at the joint and sent him spinning to the ground. So she's here, in his clearing, and it's sunset, starting to get dim, so that no one is likely to notice that a bald eagle has moved into the forest. She's so much bigger than him, in this form, nearly twice his size, and it's--comforting, sort of. She feels like she can protect him. She's letting the eagle run things while they talk, preening Tobias' feathers absently, and she tries not to pick too obviously over his wing, the one that was cut clean off just hours ago.
[Rachel,] he says anyway, with a smile in his mental voice, and he shakes out his wings, flaring the feathers demonstratively. [I'm fine. Come on, if we start now we can fly for a while before you have to get home.]
