My JJBA/Animorphs OC Fic Part- Did I have Team Bucciarati react right???
Walking into the house, I put down the bags on the counter. I didnât see anyone in the living room or the kitchen. âGuys?â I called. No answer. I headed upstairs and heard something that made me stop in my tracks.
âStop it right there! It looks like sheâs talking to someone,â Fugoâs voice came from my room.
âI knew there was a reason the Ellimist gave me the ability to see stands,â I heard my voice say. âIt wasnât out of the kindness of his heart, thatâs for sure.â
I felt a wave of panic surge through me. Abbacchio was using Moody Blues to replay my conversation with the Drode from when it had visited me the other night. I had always avoided morphing or doing anything related to my past as an animorph in case Abbacchio decided to use Moody Blues like this. Just in case. But the conversation with the Drode couldnât be avoided.
âThe Ellimist and my master have been watching you, Lina. Although I know you already suspected that,â the Drodeâs voice replayed. âWith Rachel gone, youâre the subject of our next game.â
I peered into my room. I saw Abbacchio, Fugo, Narancia, Giorno, Trish, Mista, and Bruno standing in my room, their backs to me. I pressed myself against the wall before I could be noticed.
âAnd you know what happened with Rachel,â the Drode went on. âShe refused our offer to kill Jake and end the war. She paid with her life. The Ellimist won that game, but Rachel lost. She should have killed Jake when she had the chance. Sheâd still be alive right now. Just remember that.â
âIâm not going to be a pawn in Crayakâs game,â my voice said angrily. âLeave me alone, and leave my friends out of it. What do you want me to do, kill Jake?â
The Drode laughed. âMy master Crayak and I will be giving you a choice. Youâll have to choose carefully. But maybe this information will help you make up your mind.â
âJust who on Earth was she talking to?â Trish asked. âAnd how did this guy get in our house?â
âJake considered you and Rachel his secret weapons. He sent you and Rachel after David for one reason- to see which of you he could exploit more. In the end, it turned out to be Rachel. And you were to be the backup, or the replacement,â the Drode said.
âYou donât think I realized that?â My voice snapped. âThatâs why I donât talk to him anymore. Iâm done hurting people though. Thatâs behind me.â
âIs it?â The Drode laughed. âDonât you want to avenge Rachel? Donât you think Jake should pay?â
A moment of silence while I had hesitated. âI-â
The Drode had cut me off. âWe had some nicknames for Rachel. Rachel of the dark heart was probably the most fitting. The ones weâre using for you? Lina the hurt. Lina the denier. Lina, the one with the darkest heart. Youâve taken Rachelâs place as the one with darkness inside of you.â
âWhat?â Narancia asked, his voice full of disbelief. âLina? Sheâs not like that at all!â
âSometimes people arenât who they seem to be,â Abbacchio said, pausing the replay. âThey put on an act.â
âI said leave me alone,â my voice said as the replay resumed. âIâm not getting involved in this. I refuse.â
The Drode laughed again. âYou donât have a choice. You have to play our game. But you will have a choice in how to play the game. Both you and Rachel had potential, Lina. My master and I have plans for you. Rachel didnât want anything to do with our plans for her. I can only hope that you will see things differently than her.â
âDonât get your hopes up,â I had told the Drode flatly.
âOh, I am,â the Drode said. âWhether you like it or not, your little mafioso friends are also players in my game. You canât escape the past, Lina. You canât keep them safe from your past, either. Theyâll find out. Play the game for them if you wonât play it for yourself.â My stomach churned at the Drodeâs words. I sank against the wall, sliding down.
âSoâŚ...weâre pawns in a game we donât know how to play? Or even what it is?â Giorno asked.
âI donât like this,â Mista said nervously. âSomehow, I have a feeling this isnât a card game or video game or anything like that.â
âFine, Iâll play,â my voice said shakily. âBut like I said before, leave my friends out of it.â
âItâs too late,â the Drode gloated. âThe pawns are all set in place. You canât escape your past, Lina. Lina of the dark heart. Master Crayak and I will help you see your full potential. Youâll become what Rachel couldnât. Lina, the one with the darkest heart. Lina the denier. Your friends will see you for what you truly are!â
The replay ended. I sat there, my heart pounding, waiting for my friends to speak.
âI donât know what that was but weâre not letting her do this alone,â Bucciarati spoke first.
âDidnât you hear what that thing said?â Abbacchio argued. âSheâs not who we think she is!â
âShe didnât want us to become involved,â Giorno said. âIf anything, that tells us who she really is.â
âIt seems we donât have a choice either,â Fugo said quietly. âWeâre part of this Crayak personâs game too.â
âWe play and we beat him,â Trish said. âThatâs what we do.â
âI canât help but wonder what was with those nicknames,â Mista said.
âWho even is the Ellimist? And Crayak? Who was working for Crayak?â Narancia asked.
âMaybe Lina can answer those questions,â Bucciarati said. âLetâs find her and ask.â
I quickly retreated to bathroom, opening the window. I morphed to hawk and flew away. I wasnât ready to talk to them about this.
