Hello I am back to defend my assertion. Just once I’ll stop after this, I have self control. After that I will repress the need to be Right on the Internet.
For context, the spiral is the fear of unreality, of being lied to, that things are not as they seem.
A lot of Col’s internal narration addresses his belief he is not human and that humans are evil and cruel whilst simultaneously addressing the dissonance between those beliefs and Col’s almost memories of who he used to be.
Col has a distorted reality in this way where he’s trying to make sense of his place, the role of other people, and all the awful things that happened to him. He obviously was lied to, gaslit, and abused, which changed his perception of reality in a significant way. Now that he’s healing, his reality is changing again.
While I acknowledge anon’s point that he isn’t necessarily manipulative/cruel enough to be an avatar of the spiral, representing it and acting in favor of the entity’s goals, the game was “what tma fear/entity are these characters?” and I was merely playing the game. If Col really was in the Magnus Archives universe, I believe that a supernatural catalyst would be the thing to warp his sense of decency in this way, as it is for the canonical avatars as well, and that the Spiral would appreciate someone with a transient sense of reality, such as Col.
