okay so despite my limited abo knowledge I actually put a lot of thought into this and slept on and, and while i picked beta, it was for selfish reasons. now, im going into this as someone who just casually indulges in ABO fics and doesn't know any like..universal truths? if there are any? from my experience, everyone writes the omegaverse differently and has their preferences, and i do too lowkey

I agree for the most part about what you said in terms of why he could be an alpha. he was 100% created to be the "superior" robin, and that obviously translates to being the "superior" second-gender(idk the correct term?). espeically his earlier appearance (any anything pre-rebrand, as i call it), he very much gave frat guy, chick magnet, misogynist, as you pointed out. that naturally translates to alpha, imo, and if DC would have made him anything back in the day, it prob would have been an alpha

now, I will also say that newer/post-rebrand tim drake is EXTREMELY different than older tim drake. from what ive seen, even is core attitude and traits have changed A LOT. like its like reading two different characters in my opinion. now, espeically in the fandom, hes very femininized, which im not saying is always a bad thing, but it also gets to a certain point. one thing that I personally disagreed with was that being an alpha translates well with tim's bisexuality, i feel like from what I've seen, omegaverse is lowkey really strict about stuff and like..misogynistic in its own way in a pretty harsh degree at times. I feel that from my limited knowledge, being bi would translate better onto a beta or an omega because theyre the more "submissive" roles, and even a bi dude with a preference of women who only tops when hes with guys, has a level of feminity and submissivness forced upon them within society at large (not according to everyone obviously, im talking generally). being bisexual, or queer to any degree, inherently comes with a level of femininity and assumed submissivness no matter who it is because of how society views queerness (and how society is misogynistic 😁). because of all of this, I think a more modern tim would be an omega

now for my actual answer. From what ive seen, by being an in-between, betas r kinda just normal humans? like i don't think they have any heat/rut adjacents from what ive seen? but ive also not seen a lot of betas in fics BECAUSE they don't have a strict or huge role the same way alphas and omegas do. from what I understand, theyre kinda nothing burger, and so is tim in my head. yea ik hes done a lot and hes sooo cool and sooo smart and sooo important to batman blah blah blah, I genuinly do not give a single flying fuck about him, hes an annoying useless nothing burger in my head, so i made him a beta. I also think tho that a lot of people would say the same but for a realer reason, which is that tim fans like to make him subversive in any way that they can. in a world full of alphas and omegas, why WOULDNT he not be like the other girls and be a beta? he's a cool, out of the ordinary lone wolf like that 🙄
