i have so many thoughts about a lot of things we've seen happening recently, and i feel like i'll never be able to articulate it right, but i'll say one thing and i'll say it loud for my fellow queers and autistics and everyone else who should know better:
We need to stop going after each other like this. We need to stop hating on each other for being "cringe", or fearing each other because we're grossed out by how someone copes, or who they are. We need to stop letting some idea of correctness or moral purity lead us into this horrible cycle of punitive justice and self-destruction.
We need to stop being ashamed of each other.

i think Belle would see the stars in Jewel's eyes as she talks about her passion for geology and just... i dunno. Here. Something like this:
[Jewel explaining what iridescence is as she shows off some stuff about rocks] "Oh!" Belle's eyes light up in realization. "Like your shell! No wonder it looks so pretty!" Belle covers her mouth in flustered embarrassment as a blush spreads across Jewel's cheeks. "I uh, I mean…" "I-it's alright!" Jewel stammers, "I d-don't mind, I just, um… do you really think of me that way?" "Wh-what way, exactly?" "Uh… romantically?" "Oh golly, I… frankly, I'm not certain I've even worked out what that means yet." "I think it's when you, um… hm." Jewel pauses, seeming equally unsure. "Like, I know how folks talk about it. I've seen what people call 'romance'. But it all feels real arbitrary 'n vague to me." Belle rubs the back of her neck. "All I know is, when I look at you, and I see that smile on your face, and that passion in your eyes… I wanna keep seein' that, yknow?"
in my fic im at least doubling the age of basically every sonic character because nothing makes sense otherwise. like what do you mean tails is 8. no he fucking isnt.
im not gonna go out of my way to list people's ages, because that's silly, but i will make a heavy implication the canon ages are wrong exactly once: Vector offhandedly mentioning that Charmy is 12. this will make perfect sense to anyone who doesn't know the canon ages, but clearly signal to those that do know them that i Do Not Care.
