After the invasion of Android into our daytoday life, it seems that smartphones become imperative. The smartphones running on Android can tell you from weather forecast to how much sleep you need daily. Keeping this in mind, Rahmath Trust - Chennai has jumped into Android foray to release an app for Tamil Quran. The Tamil Quran app running on Android platform exactly looks like a hard bound copy of Tamil Quran in your hands. The theme and font color they have chosen match exactly the verison of the hard bound copy. Masha Allah.

At present, RT (i.e Rahmath Trust) has come up with two chapters, Surah Fatiha and Surah Al Baqara. The face of the application has RT logo on its top left, and search and goto icons on its top right. Clicking on the search icon, it opens a page to search verses in Tamil. But i believe, not all tamil letters are included in the search keypanel. The goto icon opens up in a popup overlay that has full set of verse numbers which will take you to the appropriate verse upon clicking. You can also tweet the font settings by clicking on the settings on the app.

Upon opening the app, it lists each chapter sequentially. On clicking a verse, it takes you to the thafsir of Ibn Kathir of that verse. It has very elaborate and detailed explanation for each verse. Unfortunately RT has just released only two chapters and it would be great if they release whole Quran in Tamil. RT is also working on some other apps like Sahih Al-Buhari, Sahih Muslim, Jami At-Thirmidhi, Sunan Nasa’i, Sunan Abu Dawood, Sunan Ibn Majah. We wish RT should continue the work and do the great job to the Ummah. This app is powered by Softcraft systems.
