10.11.12 for the ask meme! <3
10. Your favorite quote on government?
âNo country can be well governed unless its citizens as a body keep religiously before their minds that they are the guardians of the law and that the law officers are only the machinery for its execution, nothing more.â
11. What book should every person read?
There are actually two books that I wish every American would read. They would give them a better idea of what a Democracy really is and how we can modify how our government functions to have better outcomes and a more equitable society.Â
On Democracy by Robert A. Dahl
Patterns of Democracy by Arend Lijphart
12. Which social issue do you think must be addressed first?
Well, this one is a little more difficult than the last two. There really is no hierarchy of struggle, with one struggle truly being greater than another. And even if there were, it would be impossible to say which was, since we all live at the intersections of several struggles.Â
That being said, I think the issue of our time is income inequality. Without radical changes in how we view our economic system and someones right to life, the issue will only become worse.Â
Much like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and various Nobel prize winners in Economics:  Paul Krugman, Herbert A. Simon, Friedrich Hayek, James Meade, Robert Solow, and Milton Friedman, am a supporter of a guaranteed basic income in order to address the issues of poverty and income inequality. Â
In theory, this would also begin to address some issues relating to race and sex, since poverty tends to affect women and POC in much larger percentages than they do the majority group.Â
