once upon a time I asked, what color is hope? but it can be any color you wish it to be, colors that only happen in your mind’s eye, colors only found in dreams.

how many times have our hopes failed us, burned in a fire lit by mistakes, exhaled when the last embers went out, went up in smoke like the colors that once made up our dreams?

I remember what it feels like to have hope and I remember what it feels like to lose it. I remember the colors and how they were imaginary and then they were grey and gone.

for a moment, my eyes will unfocus and I will remember the colors of my hope. and then all I will see is grey and grey and my hope will be gone—
