Everyone reacts to meds differently. My brain can't handle Ritalin. The effect is, uh, not good to say the least. For me personally, Adderall is one of the main things that keeps me functioning. I know several people who are the exact opposite. Trial and error is pretty much standard with ADHD treatment, especially with stimulants. It can take a lot of dose adjusting to figure out what's best.

Thank you. I’m open to trying other things, but even though we’re only on the second day I am cautiously optimistic - possibly even cautiously ecstatic. It’s like the sweet, thoughtful, brilliant kid that has always been in their under the anxiety tension and twitchiness and spikey anger has suddenly been unveiled. He can focus on things without hyperfocusing. We had actual CONVERSATIONS instead of him talking at me at high speed and then TL’DRing out within seconds if I start to speak.

He let me touch him without shrugging me off. He hugged me. He sat in my lap and snuggled while we played Minecraft.

The miniature scientist in the back of my brain keeps pointing out that two days does not a dataset make, but the prescriber and clinician both said that any effect would be immediately visible, and holy shit is there effect.
