Meiping (Prunus) Vase Celadon with cloud design painted in white slip,  Goryeo, 12-13th century,  The Museum of Oriental Ceramics, Osaka / The typical features of Prunus vases of the Goryeo dynasty are the wide shoulder and S-shaped, curved body line. This beautiful vase clearly shows these characteristics. However, the decorative mode of this vase is very unique. Celadon ewer in the shape of a sea dragon,  12th century, Goryeo Dynasty,  National Museum of Korea, Seoul // This amazing celadon has a shape of a mythical animal with a dragon head and the body of a fish (In Asia, the dragon is an auspicious animal). The ewer has a dragon head-shaped spout, and a fish tail-shaped lid. The handle was made in the shape of twisted lotus stalks. Buncheong ware / Flattened bottle with sgraffiato decoration of lotus flower and fish / 15th century / Joseon period / Horim Museum, Korea / The Sgraffito design of buncheong wares is achieved by first coating the surface with white slip, and then carving out the background areas surrounding the motifs, creating a striking contrast between the white slip and the blue-gray clay body. The patterns of this bottle are bold, poetic and dreamlike as well as showy, I think. Buncheong bottle with stamped rope-curtain pattern / 15th century, Joseon period, Leeum Samsung Museum of Art, Korea This pear-shaped bottle is an outstanding example of buncheong ware. The technique of stamping was used in this buncheong ware. In contrast to other types of buncheong wares (insiced buncheong, sgraffito buncheoing, or buncheong in iron-brown) this stamped buncheong shows regular, well-defined patterns. The glazing, of a translucent pale-blue tone, is of the utmost quality and successfully enhances the neatly decorated white-slip surface.
