Excited today as we venture into the world of Chase Bliss once again - this time around, it's the new Brothers AM Dual Channel Overdrive Distortion Boost, a collaboration with Analog Man Guitar Effects!! Based on the classic King of Tone, this pedal brings amazing tones and killer functionality to the table, and it sounds really really good…demo out now, cheers!!

DIGIWEEK 2021 - DAY 6: DREAM

One of the prompts for today was “Headcanons” so I thought I’d share one I’ve had for awhile (though it’s more of a “theory” than a straight up headcanon)

So in the english dub of Digimon Adventure its stated by Gennai that Apocalymon created the Dark Masters, however this statement is absent from the original Japanese version. There also exists an official novelization, which implies the Dark Masters weren’t even aware of his existence.

So where DID they come from? Did they just evolve like normal Digimon, or is there something more unusual about their existence?

Well, looking at their offical profiles in the V-Pets, there is some interesting things of note. Here is a bit from Piemon’s:  “ A strange-looking and elusive Demon Man Digimon that is completely shrouded in mystery. Demon Man Digimon have many mysterious qualities, and since Demon- and Undead-species are basically beings from another dimension, their true forms are not totally understood.”

 Now obviously these profiles aren’t canon to every continuity - In the games, for example, Piemon can evolve from other digimon like normal. But given that Piemon in Adventure is so mysterious and powerful, it seems quite possible he came from another dimension. Additionally, this “coming from another dimension” thing is canon for another Adventure character - Wizarmon. The novelization of Adventure states that Wizarmon was exiled from his home dimension for reading a forbidden book, even stating that the composition of his body was changed to resemble a life size doll (meaning, like Piemon, his original form was unknown.) Wizarmon’s official Digimon profiles states that world was “Witchelny”.

Several other Digimon are mentioned to come from Witchelny as well, and most of those Digimon, including Wizarmon, are classified as “Demon Man” type Digimon - same type as Piemon. So its very possible Piemon and Wizarmon came from the same world!

As for the other three Dark Masters, well, its worth noting that unlike Piemon, the other three resemble artificial constructs in form. So its possible Piemon made them 

Pinocchimon was stated in his profile to have been “Built from the body of a cursed Jyuriemon.” I’ve even seen some other fans suggest it was the same Jyureimon that showed up in the anime, which might explain why he was one of the only minions that was actually loyal to Pinocchimon. We know that Piemon has a bunch of strange abilities - incuding turning humans into keychains. If he can do something that crazy who’s to say he can’t make Digimon out of parts of another Digimon?

Speaking of which, a Digimon made out of parts of another Digimon is literally what Mugendramon is - He has Megadramon’s head and right arm, MetalTyrannomon’s lower jaw, MetalGreymon’s right arm, MetalMamemon’s ‘Psycho Blasters’ on his back and even Andromon helmets as Kneecaps.

In his first appearance in the Digimon World game he was created by a human scientist called Analogman (Btw, in the game Analogmon resided on infinity mountain. Mugen means infinity. So Mugendramon was named after the mountain. However, given that Analogman doesn’t exist in the Anime’s continuity, perhaps he was made by Piemon instead? In one episode, Piemon is sipping brandy watching Mugendramon chase the kids and Piemon starts bragging about how the kids don’t stand a chance and Mugendramon is walking engine of destruction - maybe he was boasting about his own creation?

As for MetalSeadramon, well, he’s a cyborg Digimon, so he can’t have been completely been made from scratch but he’s notably different from the  Seadramon and MegaSeadramon we see in the anime who are more feral and instinct driven. The official profile for Seadramon even states it has no intelligence, though the one for MegaSeadramon says its slightly smarter - which lines up with the anime actually, since would have had to have at least some intelligence to follow Vamdemon to the real world, but it seems strange for MetalSeadramon to be as smart and talkative as he is - Digimon levels designate power, not intelligence (See Pinocchimon and MetalEtemon for how immature an ultimate level Digimon can be.)

Additionally, MetalSeadramon is a Data attribute Digimon, not a Virus - theres no reason to think a Seadramon would necessarily be that malicious and power hungry if they gained human level intelligence. However, if it was a normal MegaSeadramon modified by a Virus type that would explain a lot about MetalSeadramon’s behavior.
