My favourite part of these earrings is the rough agate crystal layer that I cut from a bigger piece found in the UK. They really sparkle but somehow I can't get the camera to convey it. There's lots of iridescence going on too with the Roman glass beads and the tiny fiery opals. And the focal - a cut ammonite fossil - one side has a real nice red ammolite sheen. I've used sterling silver to give them a rustic claw prong setting. From the earth: This weekend’s scavenged discoveries have found new purpose. The ammonites came from a broken bracelet that was heavily bezelled in silver and completely drowned them out. When I eased them from their frames, I realised the two slices went together and there was noticeable iridescence on the reverse sides. I’ve created a rustic prong setting for them instead which reveals their beautiful shape. These 66 million year old plus fossils are paired other salvaged stones - citrine quartz crystals, Ethiopian opals with stunning iridescence and Roman glass coin beads.
