AMG GT R Pro „The Monster of The Green Hell“.

Back in the days the AMG GT R PRO was characterised by yet further improved driving dynamics, in particular on the racetrack. The experience from the AMG GT3 and AMG GT4 racing cars entered into the development.

The measures from motorsport can be clustered in four areas: suspension, lightweight construction, aerodynamics and looks. Suspension: the optimal set-up

The AMG coil-over suspension offers even more choices for tailoring the set-up to the particular circuit. As in professional motorsport, the driver is not only able to set the spring preload length mechanically, but can now also adjust the compression and rebound of the dampers. This is done quickly and precisely without tools via a click system with an integral adjustment dial on the damper. The compression rate is adjusted separately for high-speed and low-speed movements.

This means that the settings can be dialled-in for slow and fast compression movements as is common practice in motorsport. This allows influencing the body dive and roll as the well as the traction of the AMG GT R PRO even more selectively.

The front axle is fitted with an adjustable torsion bar made of lightweight carbon fibre. Its counterpart at the rear is made of steel, is likewise adjustable and also saves weight due to its hollow tube design.

The AMG GT R is already fitted with Uniball spherical bearings at the lower wishbones of the rear axle. The AMG GT R PRO now gets these bearings also for the upper wishbones.

Back in the days, the most powerful AMG V8 series engine of all time, the most expressive design, the most elaborate aerodynamics, the most intelligent material mix, the most distinctive driving dynamics: For the new Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series (combined fuel consumption 12.8 l/100 km, combined CO2 emissions 292 g/km)[1], the Affalterbach designers have pulled out all the stops when it comes to the art of vehicle design.

The super sports car perfectly embodies the brand’s rich tradition in motorsport, as well its many years of expertise in developing complete vehicles which impress in every respect. The result is an output of 537 kW (730 hp) from a V8 engine with a ‚flat‘ crankshaft, combined with active aerodynamics and a design which stems directly from the current AMG GT3 racing car.

Different designs of V8 engines. The design of a V8 engine gives designers plenty of room to play with in one key element: the crank arrangement on the crankshaft. The result is the most powerful V8 series engine from Mercedes-AMG.

The GT Black Series engine may be based on the AMG 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine with dry sump lubrication, but it has been given the new internal code M178 LS2 due to the numerous modifications. It achieves 730hp at 6700-6900 rpm and delivers a maximum torque of 800Nm at 2000-6000 rpm. New camshafts and exhaust manifolds are adapted to the new firing order and further improve the gas cycle.

Both twin scroll exhaust turbochargers are mounted in anti-friction bearings, as in the top-of-the-range four-door AMG GT Coupé, which optimises their throttle response even further. However, in the Black Series, the turbochargers have been given a larger compressor wheel, meaning that both can deliver a total of 1100 kg air per hour.

Back in the days the visual update for the AMG GT coupé and roadster includes new front and tail lamps as well as a new design idiom for the tailpipe trims.

The new light controls of the LED High Performance headlights now display parallels with the AMG GT 4-Door Coupé and therefore further strengthen the AMG GT family connection with the two-door models. A tri-functional, arched light guide takes on the functions of daytime running light, navigation light and turn signals.

The light of the LED tail lights also appears even deeper set and sportier through the dark background.

From the back the new look of the rear apron is striking, its sporty black diffuser insert was redesigned for the AMG GT, AMG GT S and AMG GT C. The twin tailpipe trims are now adapted to the lines of the AMG GT 4-Door Coupé ‑ round on the AMG GT and trapezoidal on the AMG GT S and AMG GT C. The rear design of the AMG GT R keeps its distinctive shape.

The AMG GT and AMG GT S are getting a new black grained sill cover on the bottom section. This makes for an extra-dynamic look. In conjunction with optional exterior packages, trim elements add individual highlights in high-gloss black, matt black, high-gloss chrome or carbon fibre.

Also, on request, the AMG GT and AMG GT S are available with a new y-spoke light-alloy wheel in matt black with a high-sheen finish. In addition, as an option for the AMG GT, AMG GT S and AMG GT C new 10-twin-spoke forged wheels in titanium grey with high-sheen finishes or in matt black with a high-sheen rim flange are available.
