∑ - “So I think you and I need to have a talk.”  Crooking her finger in a come-hither direction, Isabelle singled out the Fray as she made her way behind pillars of the Institute, making her way into her bedroom, sitting on the edge and patting the mattress. “It’s come to my attention that some amends need to be made.” They never had a proper chat about how cruel Isabelle was at the start of their friendship. “I’m sorry, Clary.”  

“ what are you going to do? handcuff me? ”

“ no, clarissa. “ An exasperated sigh and a hand through his hair as he sat from across of her, cup of tea in hand and one leg crossed over the other. Completely cassual for someone who had just kidnapped their sister. “ Coffee? Tea? There’s some cake in the kitchen too if you’re hungry. “

there was no misconstruing a demand like that. And his eyes move away from the book on his lap to her standing figure before him. Half her shoulders bared to show the scars she had acquired during their little excursion through Paris that day. Her absolute mistrust and stubbornness leading her all to close to her death. 

He closed the book gently. There’ll be another day he could devote to the Sumerian Language. For now, his lovely sister was demanding his attention. Which it seemed wasn’t as hard to keep as it was to attract it in the first place. 

Hand brushes over the span of her shoulder as he got up. Pale milky skin marred by the reminder of burnt flesh and bitten skin. A flash of rage that nearly had the creatures turned to ashes with merely a glance. He shakes himself out of the reverie, looking up just before his lips touch the rough bumpy flesh to catch her head turned. His arm circled. Hand caught her chin and turned her head towards him. 

“*puts head on your shoulder*”

there’s something to her proximity that makes the hairs on the end of his skin taut and on fire. A homing beacon that burns and self-combusts when her skin touches his. A snap in his ecosystem hidden behind a blink and the swift movement of his eyes, looking down at her. 

They all knew that Clary was still figuring out her way in their world. She'd come a long way since the girl he'd found at the club but she still had a long way to go to be anywhere close to him, Alec and Izzy. In time he knew she would get there. It was just going to take time along with a lot of work. He'd already offered to help whenever he could. There were still some days when he needed to focus on himself, but he would offer to help her out. Maybe it would catch her up to speed faster than with her doing it on her own. It wasn't like the Clave would help. Most of them thought it was pointless to even train her given who her father was. But Jace knew better and he could see her being someone they would need. "They'll try to tell you it was but it wasn't. This could've happened to anyone."
