Photos from a few years ago. Reminiscing back to when we could go on days out.
Body of the Amesbury Archer (c. 2300 BC).
The Amesbury Archer was buried during the Early Bronze Age in Amesbury, near Stonehenge. His grave contains the earliest-known gold artifacts found in England, and more artifacts than any other Early Bronze Age burial in Britain.
The artifacts he was buried with include gold ornaments, copper knives, boar tusks and pots. His body was crouched in a foetal position, with flint arrowheads scattered over him.
Oxygen isotope analysis shows that he grew up in the colder regions of Northern Europe, yet the extravagance of his burial suggests he was a tribal chieftain. His body shows evidence of an abscess and a painful bone infection.
