February is Black History month. Time to remember those who have struggled & paved a path for future generations. As a PoC & an Artist myself, I do feel I too must not allow the lives & sacrifices made by those before me to go in vain. Especially now when our world is in such crisis & division. Keeping an open dialogue with others to address social issues effecting us all, yet many fear to discuss is vital. Not to just talk about such issues but to take action to bring about positive change. When I first began my pursuit in the Ent. Biz, I only wanted to Sing & Perform because it brought joy to others & to myself. But as I matured, I realized I too have made my choice as an Artist. Will I be just about providing entertainment to others alone, will I be all about the Benjamin, or should I use my platform to try & make a difference. Like Paul Robson & Nate Parker, I choose the later. We all can do our part to change the world for the better. Life is so much bigger than ourselves. We all have something to offer. One only needs the desire & faith to do so. I'm excited to begin sharing some brand new songs for my Sophomore album Life with y'all soon. One in particular I call "Someone". I've composed & tracked the music & melody, but I am taking my time to reflect in my thoughts, before I begin to draft the lyrics. But the jest of the song is, "Can two people from polarized & opposing life experiences come together in Love." I feel it's possible, because I still believe Love conquers all.
