i don't think i have a straight answer to that question because honestly there's been so many people who impacted my writing. the main author i gotta bring up is g.illian f.lynn, whose books i've been reading since i was like 14 and it gave me the push i needed to write complicated, villainous women, and to be unapologetic about it. going from trying to make my characters as nice and likable as possible then reading her books and being like huh i can do that?? was definitely a game-changer for me.
reading screenplays and using film and tv as a way to study writing as opposed to just literature also impacted my writing a lot. this is how i got better at writing dialogue and pacing. but i can't for the life of me name any specific writers rn 😂 there's also been fanfiction writers that really opened my eyes to different genres and writing styles, and even years later i find myself thinking of their writing when constructing certain sentences.
other muns in the rpc, too! my friend @citylighten, who i met during her rp days, is definitely a good example. from the beginning we shared an obsession for the crime genre, and seeing how hard she went into that world rather than just staying in the surface just made me really admire her writing. also the amount of thought she puts into all the backstories and npcs and research is just 😗🤌 it made me wanna step up my game. i definitely feel like my writing is different now from what it used to be before i met her and i love that.
