This is a very old wip but I think it still deserves to see the light of day at least once
What these last few chapters (up to 223 at the very least) made me realize is that we never really get an extended perspective from anyone other than Delta or dungeon folk.
Like at first when I saw Amenstar so concerned and willing to risk his life for Alpha I was confused because I thought we never saw them develop that relationship, because we hadn’t, because it happened in the unseen background of Delta’s perspective
And the more I could think about their relationship the more it made sense because look at these to awkward gangly teens!
Amenstar wants to be cool, wants to look edgier than he actually is, and who better to be that ideal that the one that crashes through the ceiling and leaves in a show of rouge-ish indifference
And even when that facade falls away to show the quiet, almost too blunt teen below look at the other folk Amenstar calls his friends. Look at them in their too bright honesty, look at them in their perfect silence and tell me Alpha wouldn’t fit perfectly in their motley crew if he just let himself trust again
