“We’re been painting it for years” (Thanks, jelly!)

Amethyst whistles, framing it with her hands. “I can see why it took you forever. You did good, V.”

“Thanks, dude. Means a lot.” Vidalia put a hand on the Gem’s shoulders, fingers squeezing. “I even managed to fit you in there somewhere.”

“Seriously?” She squinted, trying to discern a purple speck amongst the familiar streets and buildings of Beach City. “I don’t see me in there.”

Between Amethyst and Peridot, it’s really easy to imagine Peridot as sexually/romantically naive (outside of what she thinks she knows from watching CPH, which is a rich possibility for cringey-but-charming comedy that I really hope SU has an episode about), but it’s a lot trickier to imagine Amethyst that way? 

In any case she really does know more than Peridot does, if from no other reason than being around lots of other relationships--between gems, between humans and gems, between humans--and she’s just consumed more Earth media than Peridot has on top of that. 

But of course, observing isn’t the same thing as doing.

And considering that when she first started hanging out with Vidalia she was still in that kid’s outfit and borderline-feral, and within a few years was a lot more like the Amethyst we know now.....I mean, a lot can happen in a few years. 

I guess I just like the idea of a relationship in which Amethyst is the one who’s less experienced? It’s fun, for me, to imagine Amethyst as the naive “I’ve seen this and read about it but never done it” one for once.

And! I really like the idea of Amethyst having a good friend outside of not only the gems, but also a slight step removed from the Pearl/Rose/Greg stuff. Like “Get me away from the shit happening at home and distract me from thinking about it for a little while,” and becoming close to someone who is (just barely, but still) outside of that little group would work. 

Especially if there’s kissing. 

And we know Vidalia is/was, to some extent, kind of obsessed with Amethyst--all those paintings! Is it really a stretch to think there might be sexual/romantic feelings in there at some point? To imagine they might have fooled around a few times, even if only out of curiosity on both their parts?
