I can finally say that I've listened to the entire discography of This Will Destroy You!
Definitely not a typical post rock band, though it my case it was the genre codifier, being one of the first bands I discovered and one that is personally nostalgic etc. Their style is first and foremost experimental rock, and secondly ambiental, and only thirdly "classic" post rock, which is what makes them unique.
Me personally I prefer their more typical post rock albums and tracks but when I'm in a certain mood, I do like listening to their ambiental stuff too. Overall definitely among my favourite bands
