Within the layers of becoming are the treasures of discovery💫 Light, color and darkness… all weaving in a dance of meaning. What does it mean? Do we always have to know? These different stages of the painting show the evolution of an image based on some fundamental principles of the Mischtechnik as demonstrated by Ernst Fuchs and evolved to be conceptually transmitted using acrylic (as in this example) or in other mediums. This was created as an exercise for my 6 week seminar with @vitra.academy that is now coming to a close this week! I plan to offer this exercise and more as individual packages for those of you who are curious to dive into this practice on your own time. THE GREAT WAVE OF TRAINSFORMATION *print release today! Limited edition of 50 printed on archival paper 29x20” made by @staticmedium - signed and numbered by the artists💫 This painting has 100’s of hours of prayers woven into it from this great time of change. @josephrobertmerritt and I started this painting LIVE at @envisionfestival late February 2020 during a talk by @paulstamets . We brought it back to Colorado with us and as the world went into lock down we went deeper into this story of change as we opened the portal to the @visiontrain and focused on the vision coming through us. Tonight it will be on public view for the first time at the @mesaartscenter in my show Vision Seeds💫🤩 Here is a poem that Joe Bob wrote for this painting: We weave great waves into tracks trained towards together. I painted this self portrait in 2012. The black water dragon and I breathing as one. It was a portal, cosmically they say and we sure made it one too. I broke through something here, through the layers of self and my whole life changed. Forking paths, which way is right? My sense is that it’s all right, just make a choice and go. Now almost a decade later I look back on this journey, this dance and am so filled with gratitude for the memories, the growing pains and all the experience from just giving life my best shot🤩 I’m headed out now to Arizona to open a new chapter and celebrate this past decade properly at the @mesaartscenter for my show Vision Seeds together with an awesome crew of friends gathering for this amazing Visionary show🎉 The original painting ‘Orphic Awakening’ will be apart of the show along with 12 others gathered together for a reunion🤩💫🎉 Please share with your Arizona friends about the opening this Friday, September 10th! The harvest season is here, and it feels so good to be in this state of abundance ready for the feast of all🤩🙌 This Friday my solo show Vision Seeds opens at the @mesaartscenter in Arizona alongside an incredible Visionary exhibit showcasing a once in a lifetime collection of work from a bunch of epic artists. This photo was taken by @allanivyphotography the morning I put the final brushstrokes on this painting ‘The Great Wave of Trainsformation’. @josephrobertmerritt and I started this piece right before the world changed, last February in Costa Rica at the @envisionfestival 🎉 We could feel it coming… this wave and we’ve been riding it for a while🤩 it’s been such a powerful experience to put so much focus and love into this painted prayer.
