Alright, me and my sad days and gloomy attitudes are happening less and less. I decided that enough is enough. I've been carrying around my worry stone, reading the bible (it's a comfort), and letting go of things that don't benefit me. No bad vibes people!
It's been helping. I realized that I'm happy with myself, no reason to doubt any of my thoughts, actions, looks, nothing. I am a beautiful person and if I was supposed to be any different I would have been made differently.
This lead me to my next brain explosion. (You know that little emoji? Yea.) I need to have higher standards for guys. I've always said that I didn't care for anything but they had to be loyal and honest. I always thought that anything else was just asking for too much. But you know what? My squishy has taught me different.
Just listen... how is it, that my best friend (yes, he's a guy) can text me every morning and all day long, but I never expected that from a guy? He says yes to some things when I know he won't like them, but he'll still do them for me. He makes sure that I know he'll be there for me for anything, and knows when I need a hug, to talk, or just his presence. He says he loves me, tells me I'm beautiful all the time no matter how I look, and promises to always be there for me. If my best friend can do that for me, then why can't I have that expectation in a man? I'm worth a million bucks! He should treat me that way too.
Next one, I'm always broke and crying because of so many bills. Forget that! Life isn't meant for debt and work and money. The day I die I don't want to be remembered as the hard working girl who was always responsible, I want to be the hard working girl who traveled and created these amazing experiences and memories with the people I love. No more crying and worrying about how I'm going to pay for things. Money comes and goes and whether or not I pay off my bills today, there will always be new ones tomorrow.
And finally, life is so beautiful, I shouldn't be complaining about the little things. Yes, I "might " have some mild (or maybe a lot) of anxiety, who knows? I refuse to get diagnosed. Anyway! And yes I might have some depression... again, who knows! But there will always be someone who has a better life than me and someone who has it worse. So forget it. My life is beautiful and has meaning, maybe not to a billion people in the world, but to a few people I know, i am meaningful. I WILL NOT spend my time on this earth complaining. I might still have my ups and downs, but it's okay as long as I keep going.
I am beautiful. I am worth it. I am everything I want to be. I freaking love myself and my crazy dramatic life-is-always-changing world that I'm in.

Kosovo. The Danish Battalion. The year was 2000 and for the first time we had the mandate to use force to restore peace. An oxymoron but nonetheless a mandate that demanded the very best of me in what seems both yesterday and far far away. In my leadership classes I use some of the relevant learnings from my time abroad, yet in the industry of leadership development I have been confronted with objections (only from teachers without military background) that military examples are too simplistic and too far away from real life. Perhaps even in the next galaxy. Yet, to me and those who attend they are not. The argument seems to be that going to war is dangerous business. True, it is. But if you have ever talked to a person severely under the influence of stress, you realize that the person more often than not have had everything - even life - under consideration. It is our responsibility as leaders that people don't brake on our watch, and today's fast paced work life can make them brake. Sunsets. An image of tranquility and a moment of reflection. Like sunsets we create imaginary objects of affection that defines the bliss and peace of mind we work so hard most of our lives to achieve. The summer vacation is one. The Christmas Holidays another. We romanticize the moments when in reality we often come flying in hot from a far too busy work life making the experience a parenthesis. Needless to say it sucks. We are not taking ourselves seriously. Unfortunately, what we do will be the lead our employees follow. This is why I urge you to stop chasing sunsets and start enjoying them instead. "But Lars, grinding is the road to success!" It sure is if you don't listen to theory and experience but insist on doing it your own way. Or you make it your way not to send employees home feeling guilty or stressed when it is time to enjoy the fruits of the work delivered. It all comes down to our ability to handle emotions and facts in a balanced manner, create a transparent and structured approach to work and involve people with realistic business goals.
