I had a dicussion with a friend about the whole scarjo transgender movie role. He stated that there needed to be a heavy celebrity role in order for movies regarding minorities to get greenlit and the attention it may deserve. I stated if it can't be done right, don't do it at all. I know there are some heavy star power trans celebrities, but not a ton of physically disabled celebrities. I wanted learn more about your stance on this and how you regard movies centered around disabled celebs
Is there are some disabled actors with name recognition likeĀ Marlee Matlin, RJ Mitte from Breaking Bad, and Gaten Matarazzo from Strangers Things.Ā Marlee Matlinhas been around for a long time and the latter are relatively recent stars but they became stars because the shows they were on hired them as unknown actors.
There would be a lot more disabled actors, trans-actors, Asian actors, etc. if they ever got hired for anything so the solution is to start hiring them.
I understand that studios believe people don't tend to want see disabled, trans, Asian, etc. characters so they want to hire people that audiences will go to see regardless of the movies content; this is why it's so important people are considerate of what they give their money to.

im not totally getting how the work out formula is ableist? I mean, I see how it would be so if it applied to disabled people but its for athletes/body buliders?
Working out isn't, but there are a lot of people that tell disabled people that they will be cured if they exercise more which isn't true, obviously

I never watched it because I can't really stand sitcoms or whatever those are called and I thought it was kind of a copout that they decided the disabled character should be nonverbal/nonsigning so everything is to come through able-bodied characters

I had no clue Oscar Wilde was anti semetic! I read up on it a bit and I assume you have evidence from the Picture Of Dorian Gray, which I hadn't read. I saw someone saying that the character in it is a parody and at most Wilde was insensitive since some of his closest friends and supporters were a jewish couple, but I'd really like to hear your input on that matter
