I've been writing some angst lately. It's a lot of fun tho
My requests still are closed, vibing with life like that.
Based off of the bridge of Taylor Swift's song Sad Beautiful Tragic
Distance, timing, breakdown, fighting
Silence, the train runs off its tracks
Kiss me, try to fix it, could you just try to listen?
Hang up, give up and for the life of us, we can't get back
Also the end being based off of Taylor's song That Was The Moment I Knew
Anywho, enjoy
Love Z <3
Y/N stared at the empty seat in front of her. He was supposed to be home over an hour ago. Where was he? She checked her phone again and saw that he still hadn't texted her back. She sighed as she turned it off. This wasn't the first time it had happened. She got up and began to clear away the table. Putting the uneaten food into containers and then cleaning the plates before placing them into the washer.
She glanced at the table as she heard the noise of her phone vibrating. She knew from the rhythm that it was a call, but she ignored it. She continued to clean up and get ready for bed. She heard her phone go off a few more times as she removed her makeup and jewelry. Changed into pajamas before she finally checked it.
6 missed calls and around 20 texts. At least had finally remembered that she existed. She still ignored him. She didn't want to deal with it. With him. She just wanted to forget about this. Forget that for the millionth time he forgot her.
So when the time came and he opened the door, Y/N just stared at the TV and continued to pet Roxy. She heard him drop his bag as he shut the door. She was silent as he walked over to her.
"Y/N, are you okay." She nodded, "You didn't call me back. Or respond to my text." She shrugged, "Y/N?"
"Do you know what today is?"
"Friday."
"So that's all it is? Just a friday?"
"Should it be more."
She scoffed as she stood up. "It's Friday October 5th." She crossed her arms, "Does that sound familiar to you Luke?"
"Y/N, I--"
"You promised me that you'd be here! And you didn't have a case, Luke! You...you what? Forgot? Got caught up? Lied?" When he didn't say anything she sighed and sat back down on the couch. "Luke, this isn't the first time even."
"What do you mean?"
She looked at him hopelessly, "We've been growing in distance. It feels like your never here and when you are it's like you're not! All it feels like is that you need me for is sex."
He sat next to her, "It's not."
She leaned her head back, letting it fall back onto the small table behind it. "I thought it would be different, you know? Different than when you were on the Fugitive Task Force. Different because we're married. But it seems like ever since that last one happened all that has happened is distance between the two of us." She lifted her head to look at him again, "You were supposed to be here today. Two weeks ago for date night. 3 weeks before that my birthday. 5 days before that my sisters engagement party." She rubbed her eyes, "Everyone was asking where you were and I had to tell them that you were at work." She looked down at her hands, "Even though you promised me you would take off to be at those events." She ran a hand though her hair, "And those are only in the past month and a half."
"So you're blaming my job?"
She scoffed, " I am not blaming you're job, I'm blaming you!"
"How is that not blaming my job, Y/N?!" He angrily stood up, "My job that helps pay the bills while you are jobless going through school! I mean, you seriously think I can be home all of the time?"
"I know that you can't Luke! But what I do fucking want is for you to keep your promises! Promises that you make to be here when it's important! I mean fuck, Luke, it's our 2nd wedding anniversary and you couldn't seem less interested!"
"We've had another anniversaries and we'll have more, it's just one!"
"One of how many, Luke? One of one? Two? Three, four, five, six, seven?!" She angrily stood up, "Did you know that if the couple is lucky enough to make it through their first year, they usually divorce at 7? Did you know that?"
When he didn't say anything she just let out a small scream and stormed to their bedroom. She didn't even grab a suitcase. Just clothes and a travel bag full of her bathroom products. She stormed out of the room with the bag and clothes in her arms. She grabbed her purse and keys before storming to the door.
That was when Luke finally spoke again. "Where're you going, Y/N?"
She stopped to look at him, "Anywhere else. I'm not gonna sit here and listen to you say it's fucking okay that you missed those things. But it's not. God only knows what everyone was thinking when you didn't show to my birthday and then at my sisters engagement. You should have been at both of those events! I kept looking at the door, waiting for you to walk through them, but you didn't. You didn't walk through them. Everyone left and all I had from you was a text saying sorry, you had a local case, but you were done. But the team was going to O'Keefe's and you were joining them."
"I asked you to join us."
She let out an exasperated sigh, "But I didn't, you know what I did do though?
He looked like he was thinking for a moment before continuing, "You weren't home that day. When I asked you, you told me you were staying at your sisters. When you came home I..."
He trailed off and she continued, "You got mad at me. Because I didn't respond. And I got mad at you for not being there. We went back and forth. Just like now." He walked over to her and tried to wrap his arms around her, but she just shrugged him off. He tried to kiss her but she pushed him away. "You're not even listening, Luke. We can't just kiss and make up, it's more than that."
"Then what is it? What can I do to make it up?"
She shook her head, "I don't think you can, Luke. I've been trying to get you to notice for months now, but you haven't, not once." She ran a hand though her hair, "I think we just ran our course."
"So are you suggesting, what? We get a divorce?"
"Luke, I should have done this before. After my birthday. You should have been here and if you had, I would have been happy. This was just the tipping point." She placed her hand on the door knob and twisted it open. "I'm sorry Luke. I really am."
And as she walked out of that door, that was the moment Luke knew that she was the only person he needed. And that was the moment Luke knew that he was never going to get her back. That this really was the final moment that just pushed it over the edge.
That was the moment he knew that he should have been there.
Before the Tear, there were two worlds, separate realities existing parallel but distinct to each other: The mundane realm of Bedouar, and the magical world of Faerie. 1000 years ago, a great calamity struck, tearing the Veil between worlds asunder and unleashing unparalleled magical chaos, tearing down and rebuilding both realities, warping the geography, history and inhabitants of both worlds into a single reality. Empires fell, mountains rose from fields and great tidal waves submerged whole kingdoms. Â
In the centuries since the Tear, the Fair Folk of the Otherworld and the mortals of Bedouar have lived together, fought each other and built together in a constantly evolving relationship as they work to live in the new world, magic, technology and alchemy coming together to create wonders unseen by either world. Â
Nowhere is this more clear than in the Northern Continent of Kornôgel, where kingdoms have risen from the Old Empire and the chaos that followed. The Bediz, the descendants of humanity, live alongside the Sidhe, the noble races of the Fortunate Isles, the Korrigan, the diminutive peoples of the West, and the Fomorians, the proud and violent sea peoples of the Far North. Still others, dragons, merfolk and Djinn, make their presence known. Â
But dark clouds of war are on the horizon as the great Kingdom of Neustria gathers strength against the Sidhe Queens of the Fortunate Isles. The key to this conflict is the mist-shrouded Duchy of Letha, where the Duke lies dying, the crown waiting to be claimed to tilt the balance in the upcoming struggle. Â
The story of Kroashent finds a group of unlikely heroes in the center of the brewing maelstrom: Kathalia Bisclavret, a disgraced crusader turned highwayman confronting a curse that slowly eats away at her humanity; Gwaeron "Gwae" Sulime Dethemir, a powerful Sidhe exile aspiring to become a merchant; Marie deCygne, a traveling storyteller with her own secrets; Morgiana, a former slave turned grifter on the run from powerful forces; Enora de Chinon, a noble knight and windship captain; and Yonec Tydorel, a forgotten prince with a great destiny. As these individuals navigate a changing world, they seek out their own goals. vendettas, and discover truths of their own identities, as dark forces, both mundane and magical, threaten to rip their worlds apart. Val's Notes:
Hello everyone! I'm Val, the author and artist behind "Kroashent". For a few years, I've been active on a few sites, such as WorldAnvil, Deviantart, Ao3 and Patreon, building up the characters and setting of Kroashent, a clockpunk fantasy story, inspired by the folklore and history of Brittany, set against a backdrop of clockwork airships, ancient curses and constant change, where mermaids and pirates fight for control of the seas, lycanthropic monsters stalk the forests and constructs of living iron battle element-controlling sorcerers.
I've decided that Tumblr is a site that would be a good fit for sharing my work with you, including artwork, stories and other creations, as well as inspirations behind them. I also plan to run "Character Questions and Answers" to answer your questions about the cast and their world (as well as any Doylist questions that may arise). Kroashent is a story of self-discovery, adventure and acceptance with strong LGBT themes. I hope you enjoy my world!
