alhaitham's reasons:

he's much too focused on his own pursuits to be interested in having kids.

he would actually lose his mind from the constant sensory overload. children are loud, sticky, and clingy, and it would take all of 5 minutes for him to feel like he's crawling out of his skin.

he just doesn't have a nurturing instinct. it's one of the reasons why he took a non-teaching role at the akademiya.

he's never found children to be especially cute or entertaining. they're simply miniature humans that might be interesting to talk to in twenty years.

kaveh's reasons:

kaveh realizes that he's not in a good emotional or mental place, and doesn't want those issues to negatively impact an innocent kid.

it's not something he feels strongly about. though kaveh likes children, he simply doesn't feel the need to have one of his own. in fact, he's completely satisfied just being the "fun uncle" for his friends' kids.
