I didn't like the original one, its a different style to the other ones and also one we found while we made this one/made the combo. so yea! new symbol.

…a taller than average omega. the kind who gets mistaken as an alpha, up until someone catches their scent. and even then, some particularly stubborn people will assume their mate is just really possessive.

it’s whatever, really. they’re used to it. it’s been going on ever since they got their growth spurt back in high school, after all.

there’s just one main thing that bothers them. (well, maybe more than one thing, but—this isn’t that musing.)

when they’re sad, or lonely, or sick, or just feeling—not quite right, all they want is to sink into the comfort of their mate’s scent. and, sure, they have plenty of scented blankets, and their mate is generally more than willing to let them bury their face in their stomach, or neck, but.

it would be really nice to tug on a hoodie, or a shirt, a little too big and saturated in their mate’s scent.

their mate, though, is a couple sizes too small for that.

it’s disappointing—but really only a mild one, all things considered.

their mate has a plan, though. they notice their omega’s want, their longing—or maybe they don’t pick up on that specifically. maybe they just know it’s a common desire, behavior, shared between omegas. their omega shouldn’t have to miss out, just because they’re a bit taller than average.

so they buy a few comfy, lounging clothes, and start wearing them. alone, of course, to keep it a surprise.

the next time the omega has a bad day, their partner presents them with the stash of scented clothes.

Erik spent much of the journey dreading his arrival, the prospect of a week in Lakani both dull and unpleasant. It had been years since he last visited their trade partner and neighbor, as the young Genoshan Crown Prince trailing behind his royal parents. That trip had left him with unflattering memories of both the land and her king; of a despotic, cruel man with little love for his own people. The treatment of their omegas too, was difficult to swallow, for they enjoyed none of the rights and freedoms in Lakani as they did back home.

It did not help that his Chancellor spent the trip reminding Erik of their antiquated laws, and the traditions he needed to respect during his stay at Shaw’s Court.

“I’m not going to bed his omega,” Erik said, for the fourth time since their ship departed from the docks at Hammer Bay. “I don’t care if it’s the Lakanis’ way of welcoming honored guests! It’s degrading, and I have no desire to have sex with Shaw’s Consort.”

Emma shook her head and sighed. “You are yet unwed, with no mate to use as an excuse to refuse the hospitality. You must accept Shaw’s offer, or it will be seen as a great insult by his entire kingdom.”

“The very notion! They’re all backwards and offensive and the practice is utterly bar—”

“To us, yes, but not to their own beliefs and customs,” Emma interjected, rolling her eyes over his lack of patience and acumen for diplomacy and social niceties. “If you refuse, Shaw will think that you find his Consort lacking; that he’s not beautiful enough to be worthy of your attention. It will mar the entirety of our trade talks with the Lakanis, not to mention bringing great shame to Shaw’s omega, through no fault of his own.”

He hesitated, if only for the briefest of moments; though he had no desire to cause trouble for Shaw’s Consort, Erik did not feel any obligation either to subvert his own morals for a stranger’s wellbeing. “I trust you to handle it, Emma. I’m sure you’ll find a suitably acceptable reason for me to decline Shaw’s offer, by the time we arrive on their fair shores.”

“Or perhaps you will change your mind, oh great King of Genosha,” she answered, as a sly, knowing smile played on her lips, “when you actually see his omega in person.”

Erik laughed, and shook his head. “You would be wrong, for I’m not so easily swayed by soft curves or a pretty face.”

“By all accounts, Shaw’s Consort is much more than his good looks,” Emma countered, leaning forward to refill Erik’s glass with more ale. “Though…not for nothing is he known through the land as the ‘Jewel of Lakani’, Your Majesty.”

“I assure you, even if the tales are true, and he’s every bit as beautiful as the reports say, I won’t be changing my mind.”
