There are many difficulties in being a Seer, least of all being that Seers do not exist in this world.

There is no handbook, no guide, no one to assist or to call the shots.

There is no one to question her methods, because the only person who ever did just that has long since been dead, turned to ash on the wind by a child who has known nothing but survival.

Her earliest visions had come as dreams, as nightmares, as things that haunted her sleep as a child so small, sent to her in snippets of things that would come to pass sooner rather than later; strange happenings in her home, her school, things that would later play out on the streets as she passed.

A vision one night of a boy, her age, only a day between them, lying in the dirt with holes in the knees of his jeans and a sword that he was not yet strong enough to swing gripped tightly in his fist.
