Might be a unpopular opinion among people who experience romantic attraction but platonic love is… more pure than romantic love? It’s just more fulfilling to me. It’s more lovely to me. There can be deep attachment without sex or kissing or stuff like that. Besides, platonic affection exists. Kissing, cuddling and sex are not inherently romantic. When these things are done platonically, it can be just as deep when it’s done romantically. The love is still the same, just… different. Platonic love is more genuine to me because in romantic attraction, if you start to feel it for someone right off the bat, you already see them in a special light. Platonic love doesn’t really do that. Maybe it’s because I have become very disinterested in relationships but there is just something about platonic love that I can’t put my finger on. I have no desire for a romantic partner but I have such a deep desire for a close best friend. Maybe why I feel platonic love is better is because from the beginning, you can be more silly and open while with romantic attraction, you’re worried about being perceived as desirable. Of course, this can happen in platonic love with wanting to seem cool and stuff. Just because someone feels romantic attraction doesn’t mean they want to be or should be in a romantic relationship. This is how I feel about platonic love, it’s just my opinion! I’m not sure why I think that way but there is nothing wrong with thinking platonic love is more lovely. I would love to hear the opinions of others! ^_^

But like realizing im aplatonic and alloromantic really just explained to me why i ship so many characters together because i understand romantic connection but not deep emotional platonic connection because i experience one and not the other, and combined with not having a whole lot of queer rep in shows/movies i enjoy certainly adds another layer to this
