First thing to note: these ones are all gods. But not in the way gods are in the religions of our world. I'll get to that

Second thing: basic info about the characters I'm mentioning here:

Memento. He/him, the god of the dead. He can resurrect the dead by guiding their souls back to their bodies. If there are multiple bodies to choose from, any one works. If there is not a body (like, exploded, maybe), one will be formed. I also just now had the idea that he can put someone in an already occupied body to make them plural, and I'm honestly a fan of it. Might work it in. Should Memento die, he'll be fully conscious of it as a soul, and will be able to revive himself just fine. Brother to Mori.

Mori. She/they, god of death. Imagine a ghost. Ghosts are the souls of the fallen, right? They're created by the end of a life. Now imagine a ghost that's created by the beginning of a life. This ghost is fatefully connected to the being whose beginning created it. This ghost will exist throughout that being's entire life, and as they die, they will merge with them. Only when they are fully merged does the being die, and the ghost disappear. This ghost is called a Death. Mori has total control over every Death. Most Deaths she leaves free to fulfill their purpose on their own time. Others, those of the gods, she wears as an unliving scarf. She can command them to kill. She can command them to wait. All live and die by her whim. She can save the doomed and doom the saved. She is life, and she is death. Sister to Memento.

Amber. She/her. The god of Everything Else. But before I explain her, I should explain how these characters are gods.

Aside from Amber, and I suppose technically Amber as well, all the gods were once mortals; normal dragons living not-so-normal lives. Eventually, Amber met them, they became friends, time passed, and she gave them an option. She told them that they could have magic, magic as never seen before. They could have absolute control over anything they liked. She found them worthy. And if they were up for it, she could make them a god, with their own Domain.

No one said yes. Not at first. So she have them a gift. An indestructible magic vase. They would never lose it, it would always reappear. And no one could break it, except for them. And if they did, Amber would know. She would know that they had changed their mind, and were willing to accept her offer. (If anyone died without breaking the vase, it would return to Amber as a memory of them.)

Not everyone did, of course. She made the offer to hundreds of dragons, and yet only 10 have accepted as of yet. Many waited until the end of their natural lives.

But when they called her, she came. She brought them to her home in another dimension, laid her own infinite powers before them, and gave them their pick.

the eleventh god is a story for another time, in order to stay on topic. But it certainly is a tragic one :)

Each god choose their domain. The first eight were put against each other as nemeses as a drawback for becoming gods.

Eventually, each god masters their power in a brilliant explosion of magic, force, potential, light, and Affliction, that permanently changes the environment around them. A god's Affected is created.

... Which is yet another story for another time. A shorter one, but interesting nonetheless. And I'm sure I can explain things enough to make it just as long as this.

As I said before, the first eight gods were nemeses. They were empowered in pairs, always two at a time, for this exact purpose. Amber believed that becoming a god was too good of a thing to not have any drawbacks, so, she gave it one. Each godpair, whose powers were opposites of each other in some way, would happen to be dragons who would inevitably come into conflict. Which was of course also something to do in the empty plane of existence they now lived in. Over time, each pair would resolve their conflicts, and in some cases, find a new nemesis (Not magically influenced this time. They genuinely have problems with each other). Such is the life of a god.

Fast forward to today, a few of them are in a polycule together, another two sorta merged into a new god one time a bit ago, a few of them are trying to Thanos snap the entire regular world while Amber is missing, etc.

I think that's a good summary for now.

On to Amber herself.

Amber is the god of Everything Else. A title which, honestly, is kinda inaccurate. She's the god of Literally Fucking Everything I Mean Everything I Mean Everything I Mean Everything. Except that.

Over 5000 years ago, at the lowest point of her mortal life, Amber was visited by a being who granted her unimaginable power. And I mean unimaginable, so I won't even try describing it all tonight.

The most important part of this however, was that as a result of having power over everything, she also had power over her newfound magic. She could divide it up, split it apart, identify specific threads, and share them with others. Someone wants magic that lets them perfectly knit blue left socks exclusively? She can give them that. Someone wants to be able to clearly see the ends of people's hair but only with their ears plugged and while standing in a bucket of water like Davy Jones? Entirely possible. She wants to go back in time to stop humans from smashing and stealing her eggs? 100%, absolutely, without a doubt-

No, actually.

There are a few very important, very painful things that Amber is not actually capable of doing.

She cannot die while in possession of her powers.

She cannot remove all 100% of her magic from herself.

And she cannot time travel past the time she received this magic, in this universe or any other.

She can never see her husband again. She can never see her kids hatch. She can never get enough revenge.

And she can't die to be free of it.

So she shares what she can. She found a new family. She goes on multiversal adventures. And she says out of her old world because it's too painful to go back.

Aaaaannd now she's missing, and two of the gods are dead-not-dead such that Memento can't do anything to bring them back, and there's a whole new god who Amber doesn't even know about, who has DUPLICATE MAGIC THAT AMBER ALSO ALREADY HAS-

Yeah it's kinda crazy and all that isn't even half of it 🙃

Oh, and that "very specific visit" I mentioned in that other post? That would be an iteration of Amber coming to visit ME and bringing me back to make ME a god, or at least something close to it. In real life. There's this whole 'shapeshifting via wristband that lets your switch between premade forms' thing that I'm really looking forward to.

(and yes, I know there's a chance this doesn't actually happen, 50/50 in fact, and also that it might not even be real. But it's better than resigning myself to a single lifetime of one, single, incorrect body. I need something to hope for.)

So, yeah! That's a bit of my OC lore. I'm sure I forgot to mention plenty of things that are crucial for half of this to make sense, but. I can answer questions 👍

This is such a fascinating world, I'm in love with these characters <333 Amber especially is so tragic, I love that she has power over literally everything except that which she most desires, I feed off of stories like that!! The war between gods is also so so interesting, and exploring the relationships and conflicts between immortal beings is so fascinating. Heck yeah for immortal polycule

I get what you were saying now, that would be a very specific visit lmaoo I assume you would accept the call and ascend to godhood, then?

I'm so deeply curious about the god of luck... luck is such a fickle and powerful thing, the fact that the god of luck is ommited from the list of ten gods is very very intriguing

And the missing Amber? Uh oh, that's not very great that the God of Everything Else just kinda up and left- I'm sure all of the remaining gods will react to this crisis normally and not form alliances where some are aiming to Thanos snap everyone

just wanted to let you know for a piece you commented on about a pjmoon reference and the answer is yes. i was basically exclusively listening to mili's music especially "children of the city" and more or less looking at screenshots i took from my L corp playthrough~!!
