Project Sky- Chapter 4
Chapter 4: The suburban lights of the average street corner arose as two shadowy figures lurked around, prancing through the night. The sounds of chirping crickets softy pierced through the darkness as Neil and Daniel crouched beside a seven-foot bush in the sidewalk. Neil slowly, yet ominously laid his hands on a set of binoculars. They looked normal to the naked eye, but there are special lenses that scan the area where humans are present. Neil placed the binoculars over his eyes. "Neil, what do you see?" Daniel asked. "I see, uh..." Neil began to stutter. "M-maybe t-this w-was a bad ide-ea." He began to blush, and his mouth began to drool. "Damn it other me!" Daniel spoke to his other self. "What was the purpose of this, just to see them have a romance scene?" "Give me those things!" Daniel snatched the binoculars out of Neil's hands. Slowly, and gently, he placed the binoculars on his eyes. "I-is that who I think it is?" "Come on now, Neil! Let's get started as soon as possible," instructed Daniel, striding in the shadows. "And I'm not going to tell you, Mr. Sky. Just wait. And, ah, don't stare at him for so long." Neil carefully placed his pair of binoculars near his eyes, making sure the strap was right above his tie. "Are you serious Sarah? Geez, what a new low," Neil began his rant as Daniel sighed and slightly tilted his head. "I mean, look at him! Going for the 'Cobra's Strike' already? Guy needs to learn some respect, man. But hey, who am I to complain? It's not like I hate her, don't get me wrong, but there's something about her that seems to be a bit irregular this time..." "Neil, you know that the 3rd cycle is over, right? Both you and I know we're not getting them back anytime soon." "I know, I know," whispered Neil. "But look at them go at it already! What is this, a horrible teenage romance novel?" "Ugh... Next time, Neil is not going to be bait," Daniel thought. "Oh wait. He's the ONLY bait I have." "Mr. Sky, can I have those back?" Neil politely asked, reaching for the binoculars. Daniel removed the strap, and with a quick flick of the wrist, his arm extended to Neil. "Go ahead," Daniel spoke stealthily. "Just don't daydream too long." Neil once again placed the device upon his eyes, glaring with a gaping mouth as to how Sarah and her boyfriend were gazing at each other, as if their eyes hypnotized each other. Her boyfriend had long, black hair, that of which was a bit above his shoulders. Like all romance clichés, he of course was shirtless as well. "It's quite strange," Neil whimpered. "I've known her for quite a while, now. I've always liked her for her decent beauty, but tonight, I think this is the most beautiful girl I've ever seen. But of course, she's with him. I don't know that much about him, but I can infer he does other questionable things to her besides this. If only she were mine..." The dark-haired boyfriend suddenly gave a quick glare immediately towards Neil. With a flash of light, his eyes grew narrow, and he dropped the binoculars, causing them to shatter on the floor where he began to collapse. "Neil, are you okay?" Daniel yelled, trying to make sure he isn't caught. "Don't worry about that, Mr. Sky. No matter how strange it seems, don't panic. Only panic when the means are necessary," advised Daniel. "Neil, looks like it's your turn next." "Back into her arms I go," said Neil cheerfully. He sloped his back and fainted on the ground. As his body fell, Daniel snatched the binoculars and placed it near the bush. The fainted Neil barely opened his eyes and stood up calmly yet awkwardly. "Welcome back, Daniel. Long time no see, old buddy," he said enthusiastically. "They say your deal is sealed, old friend, but I guess your hatred for me is not," Daniel spoke while pulling out a small knife from his pocket. "Care to have a small bout to train our other selves?" He extended his arm, having the tip of the knife almost touch Neil's chin.
