While the acceptance for some kinds of brown increases, others are constantly told not to try and look a certain way because they will fail miserably. The idea is to appreciate popular culture icons that have inspired you in one way or another. I have been an Archie comics fan since I was 6. I never stopped myself from liking certain things that belonged to a region outside the boundaries of my nation. That’s the thing with art, it transcends boundaries and fosters love in areas unknown to and untouched by the artist. Yes, as my friend loosened her ponytail and let her very shiny black hair down and my big eyes and other, supposedly distinct ‘Indian’ features overshadowed our looks, we did this. We created an intersection of different ethnicities, bodies, skin colour and came to pay tribute to our favourite chatacters.
