See, here's my problem: I love theme parks, and I love Halloween, but I don't tend to love Halloween events at most theme parks. Don't get me wrong, I often like them just fine, but I'm not sure the average theme park really does the holiday justice. Disney goes for broke with big bombastic decorations and parades and fireworks and it all looks fantastic, but the brand is so focused on being wholesome and amenable to families with young children that there's no oomph to the proceedings, no hint of the genuine darkness that makes Halloween so compelling within the straight-laced American culture. Universal's Halloween Horror Nights, conversely—along with most of the temporary “haunted attractions” that spring into being around mid-September only to fold back up come November—is too dark, too uniformly gruesome and sensationalistic. Neither approach really taps into the magic of Halloween.
I think it's because, as holidays go, Halloween might be the most multifaceted one we have. Pretty much everyone agrees on what Christmas means, with the differences of opinion boiling down to the level of cynicism in your viewing lens. Ditto Independence Day and Valentine's Day. Easter is even less open to interpretation. But Halloween? It's the “spooky” holiday, sure, we can all agree to that...but how spooky is it and where does the spookiness come from?
What does Halloween mean to you?

'Tis the Season
Started working on my embroidery again and made these lilies of the valley for my all hallows in honor of my grandmother (who died when my mom was 11 and I sadly didn’t get to meet), as they’re both of our favorite flower ♥️
Today I am alive, and I will be catching up on a few missed updates 😅
I had a wonderful halloween with my best friend, and we had a sleepover with a movie and snacks after. We watched (half of) The Menu, and porbably more chocolate than we meant to.
There were scare mazes, a pumpkin patch, live music, a bbq, and a bar. It was a really lovely night. I love halloween!!
