Alice6 is a weird 12-episode live-action Japanese TV show created by the Konaka Brothers (Chiaki J. and Kazuya). It was an area code drama, which means it was set in and broadcast in only one area of Japan, which is likely why it’s so rare and unheard of.

It’s extremely low-budget and no subs exist. However, it seems to have been of some importance to Chiaki J. Konaka, as not only did he name his website after it, but it also seems to share some elements with Serial Experiments Lain.

Other than the general name and theme of “Alice”, there is also a Juri and Reika in Alice6′s cast. These three names together also show up in not only Lain, but also Digimon Tamers and Alice in Cyberland. (Possibly others?)

Other characters whose names were reused for Lain include Shoko Masatsugu (the housewife who is actually a Knight) and, much more recognizably, Chisa Yomoda. Chisa’s role is very similar to that of her Lain counterpart in that she disappears in the first episode.
