Throwback to when I visited Algonquin park (Canada) for the second time, and made some waspy friends. I was eating an apple and they were enjoying some sips of apple juice from my fingers. Not one of them stung me. They took off after they were done, and no one got hurt. :3 I love you, yellowjackets! You guys are cool in my book!
Bonus screenshot from a video I took of myself hand feeding yellowjackets some honey back in 2020. None of them stung me, I was standing perfectly still and my hand was just a surface for them to land on. I don't recommend feeding honey to Hymenopterans since honey can contain harmful pathogens that can make bees and wasps sick. I've switched to sugar water, it's safe, and it works just as well! I will always have a soft spot for these gals! Obviously, I don't recommend anyone try this (especially allergic folks), unless you are experienced and know what you're doing. I just want to show how chill these girls can be if treated respectfully.
