Bár a rĂłmaiak is laktak itt (ezt tanĂşsĂtja a közeli amfiteátrum), a negyed arculatát a mĂłrok határozták meg a 8. Ă©s 12. század között. A neve az arab "Al-Hamma" szĂłbĂłl ered, ami meleg forrásokat vagy fĂĽrdĹ‘ket jelent. Abban az idĹ‘ben Alfama volt a város központja, egy vĂ©dett, várfalon belĂĽli, korabeli luxusnegyed.
Miután a keresztény seregek 1147-ben visszafoglalták Lisszabont, a tehetősebb lakók elköltöztek a nyugatabbi részekre. Alfama lassan átalakult a halászok, tengerészek és a szegény rétegek lakhelyévé. A sikátorok beszűkültek, a házak pedig sűrűn egymásra épültek, létrehozva azt a labirintusszerű szerkezetet, amit ma is látunk.
Az 1755-ös csoda
Alfama törtĂ©netĂ©nek legfontosabb pontja az 1755-ös nagy földrengĂ©s. MĂg Lisszabon szinte egĂ©sze elpusztult a rengĂ©sekben, az azt követĹ‘ tűzvĂ©szben Ă©s cunamiban, Alfama – köszönhetĹ‘en a szilárd kĹ‘zetalapnak Ă©s a sűrű beĂ©pĂtĂ©snek – szinte Ă©rintetlen maradt. EzĂ©rt láthatunk itt ma is közĂ©pkori alaprajzĂş, kanyargĂłs utcákat a város többi rĂ©szĂ©nek szabályos, rácsos szerkezetĂ©vel szemben.

Welcome to Lisbon!
A prelude of shares as I safely arrived in the hilly city of culture, past glories and somewhat idyllic sea port of Portugal. With this series, I am going against my better judgement of documenting my travel using the lighter, equally robust DX bodies.
Instead, I have decided, for once, to shoot with the Nikon Z5 for the next 40 days or so.
