We're continuing our countdown of the Top 40 songs that appeared on the first chart of the AeschTunes Top 40 (July 3, 2001). Today is song #7: "Crying at the Discoteque" by Alcazar.
"Crying at the Discoteque" became a Top 5 hit, peaking at number three on August 7, 2001 and spending two weeks there. The song fell off on October 30, 2001 after spending 17 weeks on the chart. It re-entered at number 37 on November 6, 2001 but left again after one week.
"Crying at the Discoteque" is a song that we were hearing on KNHC 89.5 FM in Seattle, and we loved it. This catchy track was a shoe-in to chart on our chart.
Alcazar would go on to have one more hit on the AeschTunes Top 40 in late 2002/early 2003.
🇸🇪 Tim grabbed a moment to chat to #Melfest legends Tess Markel and Martin Rolinski aka BWO vs Alcazar, before their performance on the #Eurovision Village stage in Vienna. #ESC2026
