Speaking of birthdays, how do you think Simon celebrates? Being in jail did skew his perception and his personality. I think before he went to jail, he'd go out for his birthday, usually to a terayaki place and drink a bit of that dank sake. Aura would setup the party and Simon would probably be like "Oh yeah buy me all that expensive Japanese stuff BOI" but really he wants people to be around with on his special day. So this is my current and fav headcanon for botw. While Mipha did love Link (and Zelda too from the journal and from Kass' teacher's song) no one in the group, knowns about his anxiety and for Zelda who did apparently know, did not know how to handle it and is busy with her own to even see others' troubles as she notes in her diary. With the exception of Lady Urbosa. I say this because of her one line "I know. Your silence speaks volumes." I think she understood Link better anyone [ Pt1 ]
[ Pt 2 ] Like I said, Zelda had her troubles, Revali was too busy being edge lord rival and Daruk I want to say he thought that's just how Link was. He like Zelda didn't see how the weight of this task made him mute. And tragically for Mipha, as much as she loved him, also probably didn't see it either. I'm guessing (at least from the Zoras who are friendly to Link and grew up with him) they didn't see that side of him, so they didn't think anything was wrong with him.
