I always wanted to have a non-human OC. Not a God or Goddess, but always something lesser. Like, I wanted her to already have experience being under a role of service (with her Creator, with the Demon Slayer Corps, and further, with Muzan). And I really wanted to reflect more on the Butterfly Sisters.
I guess it started when I was depressed in my second year of university. Fresh from a shitty breakup and unsupportive parents, I was literally in a slump. But I did get the chance to visit the Niagara Falls Butterfly Conservatory, where I witnessed such vibrantly coloured butterflies. It got me thinking--what if this little failure OC dream that I was chasing was...a pheromone spirit that represents a monarch butterfly? I knew it would tie in perfectly with the Butterfly Sisters, especially if she "acted" like a human.
Tell you what, at that conservatory, I got to watch a metamorphosis through the emergence window, where we watched the butterflies emerge from their pupae!! I thought it was such an entertaining experience, so much so that I figured my dear Akane can go through one too!!
But how would she do that if the story begins with her already in full butterfly form? Easy. She descends to Earth and morphs into a human! It's painful and stripping, raw and beautiful. And my supportive writer friends and my dear colleague-turned-boyfriend were all there for it!
Akane started as a Gacha Life 2 character and soon, got a wonderful fanart from my darling friend (who I lost along this journey...). After that, my dreams really sparked and now, after joining Tumblr, I've received so much kindness from the Kny communities, and it's my drive to keep going!!
