Last month I bought Reeling in the Queers: Takes of Irelandâs LGBTQ Past by PĂĄraic Kerrigan from Gayâs The Word bookshop. It was on display just inside the door and was the only copy they had left. I couldnât leave it behind.
I've only read the timeline from 1971-2024 and l'm already crying. People are so so good. We're only where we are now because of the people who came before.
(And what went so badly wrong between the Gender Recognition Act 2015 and shutting ALL u18 trans care in 2021?)
BrĂłd!

GAH! There are queer shirts as gaeilge for sale so someone should buy the âaiteachâ one here so I can live vicariously through them because god forbid I buy it and it is seen on the washing line

Directed by Ciara Hyland, CroĂthe Radacacha (Radical Hearts) is a feature documentary that explores the hidden stories of eight female couples who were at the core of the Easter Rising and the fight to free Ireland from the British Empire.
Featuring contributions from prominent LGBTQ+ activists and academics such as Ailbhe Smyth, Ciara NĂ Ă and Eoin McEvoy (founders of LGBTQ+ Irish Language group Aerach Aiteach Gaelach), this in-depth exploration promises to refocus how we perceive these women and their contributions to the Irish revolution.
CroĂthe Radacacha will air on Wednesday, December 6, at 9:30pm on TG4.
For anyone wondering, TG4 have a free online player which usually has subtitles in English. The player is also available outside Ireland.

TENI say:
We are conducting research into the experiences of trans people in healthcare settings.
This project addresses the lack of awareness on denial and mistreatment frequently occurring in medical settings and will provide robust data on the extent and scope of the institutional violence trans and non-binary people face when seeking gender-affirming or general medical care. Please complete the survey at the link in our bio by 26th November!
Happy pride!
