i'd rather not waste my time on answering each and every ask, so i'm just gonna address these right here and now⸺no, i don't use AI, and i never will. i would rather spend years working on a story than have generative AI bots like ChatGPT create a bland one within seconds.
first of all, and i think this goes without saying, but using AI to write anything, let alone fanfiction, is insane. when you use AI to write, you're not saving time as much as you are losing an essential ability. writing isn't just about getting words onto a page; it's about how you think, develop your own voice, and express your ideas. if you use AI, you're killing your own train of thought.
people on here, including me, write because they want to share their work and get better at something they love. but if you rely on AI, you'll never develop your skills. you won't learn how to build tension, create engaging dialogue, or describe a scene in a way that feels vivid and real. you're basically outsourcing the exact challenges that would help you grow as a writer to a fucking robot.
AI often produces work that's often factually wrong, tone-deaf, and empty in the creative sense. sure, it can produce text that sounds believable, but sounding good isn't the same as being good, both in a literal and ethical sense.
one thing i know about my mutuals and i is that we write because it's a hobby, but to say that we're using AI for it literally defeats the whole purpose of doing something for our own enjoyment. suppose i have dance as one of my hobbies, does that mean i'm gonna get a robot to dance for me instead? FUCK NO, and the same thing applies for writing in this case.
using AI for writing (in this context especially) is like hiring someone to eat your fave food for you, or paying someone to play video games on your behalf. you don't get anything out of it because it isn't enjoyable for you. one thing i will say is that i've come across people who have used AI for their fics on this app, and they've been immediately blocked. if i was doing this while "using AI", that would be the epitome of hypocrisy and quite literally go against everything i stand for.
speaking of hypocrisy, to be using AI detectors (that use AI) to analyse fics? unfuckingbelievable. the lengths some of you will go to just to somehow prove a baseless point has me concerned for your health. maybe spend less time on stupid matters like this and instead focus on your actual work? education? mental health? FINANCES???
now anon, you may think that throwing around AI accusations is something light and easy, but it has more of an impact than you'd think. imagine spending hours, days, maybe even weeks, on a storyline you came up with yourself, only to have people think of it as AI generated. that feeling of self-doubt and annoyance is exactly what us writers go through when braindead shitheads like you pop up in our notifications and go to insane measures just to "expose" us.
@valeisaslut and @satellitespinner are two of the most hardworking people i've ever met on here. they both put their very heart and soul into their work, and it's evident in the way they write. so, to accuse their work to be AI generated, while AI writing is known to be bland, soulless, and lacking detail? it's incredibly insulting and completely untrue.
maybe before "calling out" writers, first get the courage to @ them properly yeah? and on top of that, before accusing someone, maybe learn how to spell their username correctly. it's valeisaslut NOT valisaslut, get the name right, it's the bare minimum.
